SNAP 2200 Not Accepting IP

My SNAP 2200 died recently and after much research I determined that one of the drives was bad. (2x250Gb Maxtor) Unfortunately I did not have the drives mirrored . I would like to replace the drives with Western Digital. I have attempted to boot the server with the good drive with or with out the new drive present. The server appears to boot fine but shows up as unconfigured in the Assist utility. When I attempt to configure it I get various messages stating that the IP change was not successful. This is running SNAP os V4.0. I am somewhat of an amature with the SNAP servers and would really appreciate any clues as to what is wrong.

Thank you.

Try a reset to factory settings. Normally works.

If that does not work try swapping drive positions.

If that does not you have lost part of the OS and will require an image file to recover.

Read the FAQ's for more info.

blue68f100 thanks for the reply. I was afraid that was going to be the conclusion since I had tried all the other options you listed. Any suggestions as to where I can obtain a basic disk image? There is only one other SNAP server in the building and since it is not mine I am not comfortable digging into it to make a new disk.

I have done more research on this site and others and now believe both my drives had errors. New question now, is it possible to boot up a SNAP 2200 with a disk from a SNAP 1100 using SNAP os4x? Thank you.

Re: SNAP 2200 Not Accepting IP

The 2200 is kind of a unique in that only one other model (1100) use the same image file. A 4000 model should also work, but have not tried it. If you get permision from the user of the other snap, verify that it is in raid 1 if a 2x00 model. If it's a 1100 model just be very carefull and verify your dd cmd's. If it is a 1x00 model, convince him that he will need the image file if the HD fails, so both of you will benifit.
