Upgrading 4500 OS
Ok, don't laugh. I know I shouldve read before doing.
SNAP 4500 GuardianOS 2.6 4 x 250GB Try to upgrade it to 4.4.049. It took the file and ask to reboot to finish upgrading process. After reboot, all lights are GREEN and drives look like its booting, but I can't see it from the network. Tried the reset button to factory and still can't see it. What else can I try. PLease.... :hammer: |

Re: Upgrading 4500 OS
I have a Snap Server 4500 running 3.2.019 with four 160GB HD. I would like to upgrade the HD to 250GB, can you tell me your HD model number so I know which model to purchase?
Thanks |
Re: Upgrading 4500 OS
The best drives for the servers are WD2500SB RE server drives. 5yr warranty. Provantage.com has had the best prices, the last time I bought them. ~$71

Re: Upgrading 4500 OS
Great, thanks for the info. Going to order four tomorrow when I get to office.
For the upgrade, I should load one drive at a time right? I don't care about the data on the 4500, I have them backup to a Snap 18000, so can I just replace all 4 at the same time? |
Re: Upgrading 4500 OS
No, or you lose your OS...

Re: Upgrading 4500 OS
If you do not care about the data. There is an option to reset to factory settings. You also need to disable the AV and Snapshots. Then remove the raid5. Power down and remove all drives except #1. Once up Hot swap a new drive in to Slot #2. Once finished. Power down and swap drive 2 to 1. Reboot. Once up you can hot swap the rest of the drives in. Then do a setup like a new server.

Re: Upgrading 4500 OS
Install your higher capacity drive into drive 2 (hotnswap). After a few minutes the led will stop blinking (os installed). If you look at your drive gui you now have a working drive (os loaded). Now power down, remove drive 1, and move 2 to 1. Reboot. You can not hot swap drives 2, 3, and 4 in. wait till all drives come up, ready to configure. Then config your unit for your needs (raid5).
