Noise abatement
Hey:
Is the Snap 4000 relatively noisy or quiet like? How much air is moving through these units? |
Re: Noise abatement
The 4000 is a 2U rack unit. With that said, it uses larger fans which are quiter than the blowers used on the 1U models. I don't have any dba numbers, but Phoenix should beable to give you reference.

Re: Noise abatement
Nope, I never did any dB testing. All I can give you is my opinion.
4000 = quiet. 4100 = not so quiet. 4400 = a little more than a 4100 until it gets heated then more like a 4200/4500. 4200 = note for quiet place or anywhere you want any peace. 4500 = same as 4200. |
Re: Noise abatement
1X00 very quiet can be used anywhere.
2x00 Similar to a 1X00 model but fan runs all the time. 4000 quiter than most PC's 4100 is a little noiser, like a desktop PC. 4500 is like 1 hair drier on high and 2 more on low speed. Server room noise. |
Re: Noise abatement
Yeah...
this is pretty funny stuff. thanks for the replies. quiet is good though, especially if it'll be near anywhere holding media, tivos, music, etc. all I remember is the first time I fired up my Apple Xserve g4... holy schnikies!!!! air was moved that day, my friends! like a DC-3 doing a run-up right before takeoff. |
Re: Noise abatement
The 4000 is fairly quiet... There ya go...
