R134 AC Gas Block-Heat Pipe
 

I am thinking of making a crossdrilled block, very small in size along with a heat pipe and at the end of heat pipe a heat sink. The block would have R134 gas in it for evaporative cooling. And this is for the voltage regulators. Need advice on:

a) If it is going to outperform a normal HSF/water block
b) And anything in particular that I should know of?

A better question would be "IS this trip necessary?"

What do you hope to accomplish that can't be accomplished by simpler means?

First question is are you legally certified to posses and handle R134A?

Good question. I was thinking of moving the heat away from regulators. Initially I thought of adding a simple Cu pipe to the existing HS located on regulators. The pipe's other end will be then attached to the WB.

I assume these regulators are linear (since they are very inefficient), and cooling would increase a volt (tops). I had an experience with linear regulators recently and noticed that with increased cooling they were more stable.

May be increased cooling of these regulators on Mobo improve performance?
I do not know the specs of these regulators. I think that should be the first step. In any case, the stock forced induction cooling used to keep them cool.

To be fined you must be caught and I don't see how you could be in this case :p Anyway I have pondered the idea of an air and water block for some time but have not designed or built one yet. I think its a wonderful idea and look forward to updates of this project.

Just a joke, don't make me moderate myself :p I just mean that he will probobly not get fined wether he screws up or not but a more important bit is to be safe and know exactly what the gas is and dose

Basically a thermosiphon. Requires vacuum seal, soldering an access port, and something or where for heat to dissipate from like fins or radiator.

You can obtain r134a at automotive stores and is legal. Fines apply if you purposely release refrigerant and don't act in good faith. Can also use water and some alcohol instead.

I was able to make one using R134A. I have not tested it but the size is big enough to render it useless for my purposes.
