I have a snap 2200 and 4000 will hard drive work on 4000 from 2200 will lost files?

You might want to try clarifying your statment again. What exactly do you have in terms of hardware. what is a 2200, and a 4000. Generally moving hard drives between machines will not result in data loss. If it is a primary OS hard drive and you put it into a new machine, it will boot but you will likely get all sorts of hardware and driver conflicts as the OS is set up for a specific hardware profile (ie the machine you took the drive out of).

The 4000's and 2200's use different OS componets during the Install. The drives can be move from a 2200 to 4000 provided that it is = or > capacity. Doing so you will loose the 2200. The 2200 has the OS strored on the HD, unlike the 4000 flashram. So you need to save at least one of the HD's if you plan on ever using the 2200 again. The other option is to make a image file of the 2200 boot tracks. I would suggest you confirm what ever HD you elect to save, make sure it will boot. If in RAID configuration, you may loose your data. Raid 1 Mirror, once you change the config back to JOBD, will retain everything on drive1. If in RAID 0 you will loose ALL Data. The instructions can be found it the wiki section of this forum and maybe the FAQ's. Link in my signature. I recommend that you use the mfg utility and erase the HD before installing in the 4000.

I would suggest you read the FAQ's to know what the differences are between the 2 units.

No. One has the OS in flashram and the other has it on disk.
