The Radeon 8500 and ATi's Drivers...
What do you think, guys? While the performance is definitely on par, the drivers are keeping it from being a GF3 Kiler. However, ATi has recently moved to a unified driver architecture. I think that will rapdidly speed up the frequency of their driver updates. What do you guys think?
-Kevin Personally i'm still sitting pretty w/ my old skool GF3... :) |
Personally the falling prices on 8500s makes me happy. I predicted $250 by the end of october they are $208 right now! I think the drivers will improve but not a huge amount. A big enough margain to make them better then they are now. I was gonna get one if they were slower or not.

Yah $208... damn that's a good deal :)

Man, it's times like this I wish I lived in the US... Radeon 8500's are like 750 bux here in Oz, and GF3's range from high 600's (Leadtek) to over 900 for a Hercules or ASUS.
GF3 Ti's? I don't wanna know how much they'll be... If you go to some online stores you can still get a price of over 300 bux for an original GF...   |
LOL GF3's are already old skool!

I think they are worth it just for all the features that you get with it. I have one and love the fact I can run dual monitors with wonderfull graphics. They make very pretty pictures. :)
