SnapOS Question
Hi Guys,
i just aquired a Guardian 4400 NAS and have ti configured but am wanting to upgrade the OS. I checked with adptec and got quote $1500 for an upgrade. Anyone have any ideas on how i can go about upgrading mine but on the cheap? Free would be better :dome: |
Re: SnapOS Question
Spyke, You are asking for someone to pirate a copyrighted Operating System for you. I expect you will be hearing from a Forum Admin REAL SOON... :uhh:
Plus, the people here who have it, paid a lot for it. I know I did. Why would they want to give it away? And even if they did, nobody knows you. Hell, you didn't even put your location, much less anything else in your profile and you want other people to trust you? I mean come on. You really did not expect anyone to come forward with it did you? I have seen some interesting requests over time, but this one takes the cake. :nono: :hammer: |
Re: SnapOS Question
but!
You could always buy a Guardian Snap Server on eBay that already has the newest OS and then port it over on the drives (easy to do) and even have a second Snap Server as a bonus. Just be sure it has the newest OS. Like this one does (and is the only one there that does); http://cgi.ebay.com/QUANTUM-GUARDIAN...QQcmdZViewItem And let this be a lesson to you and others who buy those " less expensive" Guardian units and expect the world. There is a reason some of them cost more than others. Namely, the OS and you just found out how expensive that can be. BTW, it is only $1050 (they lied to you) for the 4400 OS upgrade. Can you tell it touched a nerve yet? I get a ton of people trying to tell me, "but I can buy so and so's Snap Server for $200 less", etc etc etc... You know what I tell them? "Go ahead, and have fun". Then those very same people come back to me, here, or wherever crying about that their OS sucks and doesn't work with XP, AD, Vista, OSx, etc etc etc etc, and begging for a hand out. Well guess what? Those of us that have it paid dearly for it, and it was worth it, easily. You get what you pay for! BTW Spyke, I am sorry, I did not mean to pick on your personally. It is just a very sore subject with me and I needed to vent a little steam... P.S. Depending on it's configuration, I might take yours in partial trade if you want. And that goes for others as well. |
Re: SnapOS Question
i can understand why you would be a little lets say 'finicky' for lack of a better and less attacking word. i didnt ask for a priated copy i asked for a less expensive way, however i have seen others on the forum straight out asking "please send me this or that" so i think im a little in right to upset about your attack.
First off i dont post my information on a forum until ive decided that im going to spend more than a few days on it. If you really want more information the im in the US and a small business owner. I run http://www.fasttracksites.com im running 4 x 137GB drives running v2.0(cant get the full version number since its being finicky at the moment) and im a Cisco CCNA tech, if you want more info then ask. Secondly thanks for the link to the ebay item but if its going to be the case where i hae to purchase another NAS to just get a newer version of the OS ill just spend the money on a dell powervault server and run FreeNAS or another item on it. Anyways sorry im blowing up on you now however unwarranted attacks tend to get me riled up. Cya |
