Gotta read this Anti-easy OC email I got :)

Quote:

"Hi;
Before 'overclocking' became 'mainstream' there was NO chance of buying a
pre-tested cpu. Now every 'IDIOT' is overclocking, without really
understanding the whys or wherefores. Is this really what you want?
Any idiot can go out and buy an Abit or Asus 'overclockers board and plug a
'guaranteed' chip in it.............some fun, or, fun,wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have a 'nice' safe day."
Hehehehehe, sounds like hes a lil upset that these damn websites are make'n it known about this lil thing called OC'n. Wow we wouldnt want to let people know about that would we? No we just cool cpu's for the fun of it and never to ... OC them. Think its just a lil upset at some of the speeds people are getting now a days with pre-tested CPU's, compared to what he got.

Also if you think most websites out there that "test" cpu's on their websites, arent getting Pre-Tested CPU's for that... you are sorely mistaken. Its sad though because people read the sites that are using "special" cpu's for some of the most high speed clockings and runs on the web, then people read the sites, order a normal CPU and can't get near that speed.

Oh well, Just wanted to share that. Also the fact I didnt even write the article http://www.procooling.com/ubb/smile.gif

The thing I don't like about pre-tested CPUs is this... Let's say a store offers Durons guarunteed at 900 and 1 ghz. By buying a 900 mhz guarunteed, you are also guarunteeding that the chip won't hit 1 ghz.

And if they sell "standard" chips, they're the rejects that won't overclock.

It's probably better to get a sealed CPU (such as retail) and take your chances. That's always more fun anyway, and you'll probably pay less, which is especially good if you keep pushing it higher and higher and then fry the thing.

I think I got a good deal on my $120 T-bird they said would gaurentee to 950, Ended up with an 850 they said would do 980, and I got it up to 1017. May be looking to pull it even higher with a new case I'm getting http://www.procooling.com/ubb/smile.gif

Not bad, I think, since I got it 2 months ago now.
