Two sleeping Snap servers
I have an 1100 and a 2200 collecting dust right now because I can't find their power adapters. I've done some research on "teh intarwebs" and I can't find the F1670K model for anything less than $30 or so. It's not really worth it to me to spend $80+ with tax and shipping for two power adapters.
The units should be able to use any adapter that has the same specs (i.e. 12V @ 3.5A). I've found a few around the house that are close, but they don't have the same male din connector. Does anyone have a source on these, or can you point me in the right direction? Thanks! |
Re: Two sleeping Snap servers
Your best bet is eBay. Buy a non working unit for parts, like one with bad HD and they did not find this site on how to recover.
You can use a std AT power supply and re-wire it to fit the Snap's plug. These may have enough to drive both units, if you have them close to each other. Just make sure the 12v source is heavy enough to carry the load. The snaps use a switching type power supply. My guess is that these are better than the stated requirement. 2 250gig HD will pull more than 10amps on startup. So these have to beable to handle the surge. A weak PS will cause a lot of other problems. |
Re: Two sleeping Snap servers
Thanks for the info David. If anyone has a defunct server and don't need the power adapter, you've got a buyer.
