NEWB - First Question 4500 and 410
 

Hello all!

I have been spying your forums for a bit and just registered. I have a snap 4500 and a new 410.

I have some feedback ill post on the 4500 in another thread, I have OS info trials and errors.

I was hoping someone could tell me what kind of RAM is in the 4500? the 410 too if you know but right now Im looking to upgrade the 4500. It has 512MB now and 4x160GB drives as it came.

The 4500 uses DDR266 PC2100Reg ram. I do not like mixing mfg when it comes to ram. So I would suggest you power down and retrieve the Info of your ram. Mine had Infineon HYS7264500GR-7-B CL2 512meg.

As for the 410 I have no idea what ram Adaptec installed, my guess is something cheap, but reg.

what is the max capacity of hard drives for the 4500??

I think the OS limit is 23T so what ever you can afford. But I do recommend that you you use interprise server drives. There more reliable and are designed for 24/7 operation.

You could also use PC2700 in your 4500, again, don't mix and match.
