Snap 1100 Hard Drive Faulty

I have read through the Wiki and searched bit torrent and ISO Hunter for the snap2200.bin file in order to replace the hardive in this unit - it does not seem to be available. I don't have access to another Snap server, so is there any other way of replacing the hard drive in this unit or should I just dump it?

Help!!

You can always buy a working one off ebay, then image it to your new HD. The sell one.

The bin file has been called by several names the most common are 2200.bin and the snap2200.bin. Try searching the torrents for it.

Thank you, another user has kindly e-mailed me a link to the file which I have downloaded. I'm installing the new drive right now.

If I find the 2200.bin, How is it used to restore the HDD? I am only just now diving into these servers.

Thanks

The OS is located on the first part of the HD. The Bin file is a copy of that section. So restoring/copying the bin (using DD) to the HD restores these files so the unit will boot. Since this is a hack, you will have to use a debug cmd afterwards to correct all of the pointers, due to difference in HD's. And the fact the bin file is not a complete HD image.

The factory of course has special software to do this, that we do not have access to or never will.

So if I can find the file all I will need is knoppix or a linux box...

Thanks

Yes that is correct. There is a live cd for Digital Dolly out.
