Snap5000 Remote Access
I have a SnapServer running version 4.0.860 Software that I have connected to my Home Network, and that I access via a Network Drive. How can I set this unit up so that I can access the files remotely via the InterNet? I'm new to this sort of thing, so I may need some rather specific instructions. Comcast is my provider, and I have a NetGear WGT624 Router.
I would appreciate any help that can be offered. Thanks |
Re: Snap5000 Remote Access
Your best bet would be to setup a DynDNS on the router. Then set the snap for FTP access. SnapOS is picky when it comes to FTP. So test locally before trying outside connection. Remember to use passive for outside connection through your router. You will need to test to see if Comcast is blocking port 21, there bad about blocking ports. They do not allow servers on residential connections. If so I think your router will support port redirect. Then choose a port between 1024-65535.
