Assist fails to assign IP address
Greetings,
I have searched and found no solution to this issue. We have an 1100 that had been working fine. It was shipped to me from another facility, and now I am having issues. It seems that the assist utility will see the unit, but is unable to assign an IP adress, and unable to set the unit in DHCP mode either. The unit itself shows no error conditions, at least as far as the LED's state. System light flashes every 1 second or so, occasional network blinking, disk light is off, except at startup. I have reset the unit numerous times, and still the same issue. when I click the "next" button to assign the IP address, all is well (Checking if IP is available) until the step where the address is assigned. The app sits with the assigning address popup visible, for quite a few seconds, before the error window pops up stating that it cannot connect with the server at the assigned IP address. I have rebooted the server, and indeed, cannot connect to or ping the assigned address. Any ideas? Regards, Gary |
Re: Assist fails to assign IP address
Are you using the correct reset procedure? http://wiki.procooling.com/index.php/Snap_Server_Resets
Are you doing a full reset or just Network? Do you know which OS version your at? Use a Win98 or 2k Win OS PC. Do you know what subnet the 1100 was setup for from the other office? If so try setting up a router with that subnet and use the GUI to change it. |
Re: Assist fails to assign IP address
Thanks for the reply.
I am running XP Pro and the subnet was the same, 255.255.255.0 I performed a full reset. (click the reset key 4 times, ensure 4 repeating blinks, then hit the reset again.) Unless I did something incorrectly, I assume that it should then default to DHCP, correct? I cannot connect to the unit's old IP, either via the http interface, nor with a simple ping. Really odd...but not completely surprizing, as I have three of the 1100's, and all of them seem to be less than stable/reliable, especially after transport or unexpected power outages. The odd thing is that the assist program seems to find the unit during the initial scanning phase, it just can't seem to issue the proper commands to it. Regards, Gary |
Re: Assist fails to assign IP address
It does not default to DHCP, the reason assist is needed to locate the server.
I do know, if the battery is dead, the unit will not start up. |
Re: Assist fails to assign IP address
hmmm...I guess I can check the battery.
Thanks! Gary |
