Fun geek math disaster
Take a server with mission critical data, and pull all 10 drives out of the stripe array.
Dont label them mix them up Put them back in in the right order. There are 3,650,000 different combinations possible :) Someone at work did that today and they are totally ****ED now. Fun eh!? :) |
um yeah... what an ass :). Actually if there are ten drives in an array, isn't 10! the correct math? Isn't that 3,628,800 combinations? Don't get me wrong... I have a C+ in Calc BC now so i'm not a ****ing mathematician...

Yeh its 3,628k I just rounded it to 3,650,000. Yeh its 10 Factoral.
its nutz. I worked it out that if it took 8 min per test to see if you have the array in the right setup, it would take 55+ Years to go through all the combinations. |
