supercooling with a coke machine fridge
i found a soda machine and took out the refridgerator thingy inside. i was just owndering if there is a way to insulate the cooler to use directly on the cpu or just use the cooler to chill the water for my watercooling setup...

BwaHaaaHaaaaaa!!!!!
Oh man! That is too funny! If you actually rigged up a system using that and posted pictures, I'd prolly piss my pants laughing so hard! Go for it!!! |
dude, I'm going to tell you straight up on this one, build a case around the cooling part of that. set it up so that the ambient air inside your custom case gets cold and use standard HSF cooling (albeit high-end HSF cooling), should work great.
another alternative might be to try and set up a resevior that would be cooled by the cooler. since I'm rather unfamiliar with the setup of a coke machine cooler I'm not to sure how that one might work. And last option, try setting up a duct and pipe the cold air through using multiple fans straight to the cpu then outside., kinda like so, sry for the ASCII art. . . cooler :\__________________________ : : ______________||||||______ :/ basically get the air to exclusivly cool the cpu, although I think that the coolor is of such power that this option would waste a lot of the cooloers potential. well, do post pics at the end, having fun, ------------------ ©××××ק=============== »»»»»»»»Cryonosis««««««««« ©××××ק=============== [This message has been edited by Cryonosis (edited 01-31-2001).] |
ok, I think I'll build a separate box for the reservoir and the coolera and pull hoses to my comp. I got a new Duron 800 today and I'm still waiting for a 156w peltier I ordered on monday.

I think I agree with the water idea, toss that cold side of that thing into a nice water/glycol mix, and insulate the heck out of your pipes, you should be able to hold a Duron or even a TBird at 0 if you can get the coolant down to -30ish..
