h20 cooling woes...

Sup fellas, I posted my setup in here a while ago and here i am today with a possible problem...Im runnin a abit kt7a-raid mobo with a 1200mhz axia tbird @1400mhz all multiplier...The voltage is 1.85 and I am wondering what my water temps should be...Right now my compunurses say 29.9...I was worried because i thought they would be a little lower...What is dangerous? When do i know if somethings wrong? and what approximatley is the temp a cpu burns out at? My mixture is roughly 1 quart of distilled water and 2oz of water wetter. I would greatly appriciate any suggestions or questions that would furthur your assisting me.

Thanks alot,
xoLiVeRx

Your water temp look ok. It should be 5-6C of room temp. What is the CPU temp? Might be using to much water wetter.

Here's a cut and paste statement about water wetter from http://www.overclockwatercool.com/water_wetter.html

"While the bottle recommends 4 oz per gallon in automotive cooling systems, extensive testing in our own systems has shown that 2 oz of Redline Water Wetter in one gallon of water is an optimum mixture for our computer cooling systems. Any less reduces its heat transfer properties. Any more just adds color to your coolant."

Just passing on what i've read and not what i can vouch for through personal experience.

How many liters in a gallon roughly 2? That would be way to much watter wetter.

1 US gal is approximately 4 litres.
You want one ounce (3-4) capsful per litre for redline's rec or half that for ocwc's.
Oh and FWIW my axia at 1533 under load gets the water to about 5C over room temp with a not too great rad ;)

Yeah similar here. xp1600+@1553mhz 2.05Vcore and water temp is about 4-5C above room temp. I have one of those thin tranny oil coolers with a couple 83cfm Panaflows on it.

i apologize for my ignorance in the subject, but approximatley how much watter wetter should i use for my one quart setup?

and thanks for the feedback.

29.9C is great, now what you should be trying to do is have some top end speed runs, or something like that. Your mobo should hit 150mhz fsb or so, and your multiplier can go to 12.5x

xoLiVeRx 01-05-2002 11:11 AM

for some reason my mobo wont oc with fsb much at all...i can only pump it up 2 extra points...any tips on dat? im runnin 1 128 rev3 muskin stick, and a 256 meg crucial stick...at cas 2. on turbo...can i up the io voltage or something? and my cpu wont go higher with multiplier cuz im stuck to 1.85...i would like to do the voltage mod to 2.10, how high u think i could go wit dat?

Butcher 01-05-2002 11:25 AM

My axia picked up a mere 90MHz from 1.88V to 2.1V but you may have better luck. It's not a very difficult mod, as long as you're careful.

jaydee 01-05-2002 11:38 AM

Also get rid of one of the different memory sticks. Running 2 different brands is not good for overclocking. Take the Muskin out and try again.

Butcher 01-05-2002 11:47 AM

I run generic, can do 150 fsb stable. :)
I think my limit on the vmod was due to lack of cooling, wuth better cooling you should be able to go further.

Brad 01-06-2002 06:35 PM

bump the vio to 3.6 or 3.7v, then see what you can do.

there aren't many people who can't hit 150mhz

xoLiVeRx 01-08-2002 02:18 PM

Is 35c high for my water temp under a full load? BTW thx for the voltage suggestion, ill give it a whirl.

Butcher 01-08-2002 03:21 PM

Unless your ambient is very high, yes. It's pretty warm in my room atm (prob 23-24C ish) and I'm only clocking a water temp of 28.2C. That's with a 115W heat load. You didn;t say your rad/fan setup but it might need some adjusting.

xoLiVeRx 01-08-2002 05:21 PM

Im using a panaflo L1A and a heatercore from a escort from autozone...the temp with the cpu off gets down to around 23c and with it on ambient is around 32. How does that sound?

Brad 01-08-2002 07:07 PM

yeah, your temps aren't too bad, but they would be quite a bit better with a more powerful (and louder) fan

xoLiVeRx 01-08-2002 08:25 PM

would you recommend the H1A? I could always recreate da shroud with a monster of a fan...would the temps improve a significant amount persay?

again, thx.

Brad 01-08-2002 08:32 PM

butcher is in the uk, he bought a 6" fan for 5 pounds or something incredibly cheap. he isn't in the chat right now, but when he comes in, I'll tell him to come into this thread
