well, it has 2x 3 phase for the cpu's, and a seperate vrm for the graphics, it has 6 pci, no raid, no lan, no sound. plenty of room around the cpu sockets.

i have the same opinion of msi and epox. look around the net and all you see is praise and ooo's and aaaaa's, then visit thoer forums. if you visit the msi forum you get about 45 posts from DIFFERENT people all who have a nice shiny new 266a board that was doa; a freind of mine bought one of these despite my objections, and his showed up doa. i just sat back and laughed while i helped him find a nice reliable board to buy. epox has been screwing people since way before i built my first. they screwed the hell outta me with that kx133(?) board which got stellar reviews, and 90% of which showed up either doa, or intermittently fscked up.

only had one iwill board and it was a POS as well. trust the names that treat you right. Asus, Abit, Gigabyte, Tyan these companies have good track records. i'll wait till some one i trust puts out a board...then i will wait another month to check the forums and see if its getting a healthy bashing yet, THEN i buy. afterall whats the rush?

Jonas, I also have alot of hate for Epox. Between Epox and Iwill there are few companies that have screwed me like they have.

Mainly with past products at past jobs, but the epox nightmare of their socket 7 boards STILL haunt me.

I have so many friends in the industry here that if a board dies, I just rma it, and get a new one immediately. So reliability isn't an issue to me.

Stability is key with dual CPU systems. Stability is an afterthought for Iwill... some day they need to staff up their Q/A dept, cause I am pretty sure they fired them all a few years ago...

my 172w pelts have been running for a couple of days now without a single problem. it looks like that first pelt just died because it was faulty.

I'm not really interested in speed, I am more than happy with the speed of my laptop, I just like messing around

I am on my 3rd Epox 8K7A in which everyone of them has worked extreamly well. My Abit KT7A is holding it's own. The ASUS A7V I had was ok. The MSI K7T Turbo-R I had was decent. Never a problem with any of them. Havn't been screwed but 1 time, and that was a Socket 7 board built by Dimond. What a POS that was.

I think a lot of companies weren't up to scratch a couple of years ago, but now I hear of very few failures

Someone mentioned asus mobos further up.

If you want to buy an asus mobo in Western Australia u might as well just order one from the eastern states.

The main distributor here had a huge blue with asus, when they recieved a huge shipment of motherboards with problems. The downside being, these werent minor faults, these boards had CNR sockets soldered onto the board instead of an AGP socket, and all PCI slots down the line of a motherboard that was supposed to have 2 ISA slots (and even had the solder marks and traces for the ISA slots.

The downside being, if someone accidentally got the board and tried to use it, ASUS would refuse to rma the board because their excuse was that it was the customers fault. Yes they must have unsoldered the sockets and put their OWN ones on!

So beware of asus too, but then we get screwed over here, as i think the only options i currently have for boards are abit, aopen or MSI, and that choice is pretty shite at the best of times :)

over here, epox, iwill, abit, tyan, gigabyte, asus, dfi, soltek are easy to get hold of.

Chaintech, Supermicro, Soyo are the only ones I'd like to see good distro's for

My EpoX 8K7A+ works like a charm so does my ASUS CUSL2-M, ASUS CUPLE-VM and MSI 6119.

On the other hand I had major problems with a SuperMicro P6DLE (dual LX) which I had replaced three times over a year and that was supposed to be a workstation mobo...

haha That is funny about the Asus with CNR slots soldered odd places. My friend had to RMA an A7V-133, and the replacement came back with no atx power connector; only the solder points. He had to send it back again, where Asus apparently lost all record of it. The entire deal took 18 weeks.

Abit and Soyo have screwed me more than any other company. Abits rule, but die. Soyos suck and die. I love IWILL boards! I've had two and they rule!

Joe and a couple of other people on the chat warned me not to get my dual p3 iWill board, but i went ahead and got it anyway. Right now, it's been 3 weeks, and i still havne't seen or head from iWill about my RMA'd board.

The onboard LAN was broke, it didn't detect the CPU at the correct default speed, (which is essential for intels as they have locked multipliers), and BSOD 9 times out of 10 when trying to load windows.

Eh...Better luck next time :)

Am I the ONLY person who's never had a component die on them?

I overclock, I never follow static safty. Hell, I've even slid a hard drive 8' across a carpet! And it didn't have a problem. (I freaked out thinking I killed it imadiatly after I did it, but oh well :P)

I've fixed tons of computers with broken this and that, but never personally had ANYTHING die on me. *crosses fingers* Except for Windows of course :D

I've always had Abit boards, always had Sound Blast Sound cards, always had Sony based monitors (21" trinitron...yummy!), always had IBM hard drives... Other than that, I buy what's cheap. Like my 8x Nec DVD drive that I've had for 2 years. And my 12x8x32 Sony Burner that I've had for 2 years.

Until I personally have a problem with a company, I'll stick with it.

I have had a 2gb Quantum Bigfoot hdd die on me for no apparent reason, but apart from that absolutely nothing, I think I'm just lucky.

I never bother about anything static wise ever, normally I touch the case or something before working on it, but nothing else

why buy a dual cpu board from a company that cant even make a working single cpu board ? iWill-be-the-biggest-piece-of-crap-that-you-have-ever-bought. Epox socket 7 boards were pretty crappy, i agree with you on that one, but this Epox 8KHA+ seems to be fine so it looks like Epox has cleaned up a little.
