How do you link 2 PSU in parallel?
 

How do you link 2 PSU in parallel and use that to power the motherboard?

unless you want to do atx psu's

if so then you just cut all the wires and resolder them as a Y. it isn't good for the psu's and you will kill them eventually, but you can get 2x 300w deer's to perform like a pcp&c one

it would be a lot easier to use some 14 or 12 gauge wire to bridge the voltage points on the pcb board in the PSUs, If you've ever had a PSU open, you see what I'm talking about.

you'd need about 6 wires (I think)

I read the article in Procooling. There was a link in that article to another source, that source was saying use diode if you want to connect them in parallel, but if I remember correctly, diode will have voltage drop of ~0.7V, which might not be enough Voltage if my PSU is already 11.XX on 12V line.

OnDaEdg was suppose to write something about how to do it, but I guess he was too busy. I read about people who do the Y thingy, that was what I was going, but OnDaEdg and I quote him

"....Some people are just splicing two power supplies together. That is not the correct way to do it, ..."


So what is the correct way?

aaaaaaa series or parrel i dont see a problem ? as long as they are matched ps.s . same spec??.

if they are identical psu's I doubt it would be too much of a problem. My friend has been running 2x 400w psu's in a simple Y to power his 200w athlon for about 6 months now, no problems at all.

But if you linked up an Enermax 350w and a Deer 400w you'd quite possibly have some major problems
