Turbokeu style air trap :)
 

It looks like all of the posts about Turbokeu's water-cooled PC70 have vanished from the H|F, so I thought I would repost the details of how to make an airtrap out of clear acrylic. I was unable to find the parts that he used locally, so I had to improvise at the Lowe's. The end result is fairly similar though. Here's what I needed (click on pics to enlarge):

That is a 50mm diameter piece of acrylic tubing, 2" PVC coupling, a 2" PVC bushing with 3/4" thread, a 3/4" x 1/2" copper connector, a 1/2" copper "T", a small piece of silicon tubing, and a circle cut out from a tupperware lid :)

The first (and only actual involved part) is to cut a small piece of threads off of the coupling. Here is what it should look like after you are done:

Then sand the inside a bit along with the outside of the acrylic and then glue it in place. I used Plumber's goop for all my adhesive needs.

Once this is done, glue the acrylic into the bushing as well, and use the piece of silicon to connect the 2 copper pieces. You can also put the piece of tupperware into the 2" fitting to make the lid for the res/airtrap. Here are the finished parts:

At this point there is nothing left but to screw it together and install it:

(that picture was taken before I glued it all together; it is not uneven now that I am done)

As of now I don't have a good method to install it; I am looking for some little clips to hold it in place. I am sure I will find them, and if not I'll just glue something on the back of the res so I can bolt it in place in the case.

If Turbokeu also posted that how to in another forum (english or otherwise) please add the link in this thread. I was actually more impressed with his end product than I am with mine and I would like to check it out again.

OHHHH...I wish I could find some nice 50mm (2") acrilic tube without out buying a meter of the stuff for $30. Anyway, it sure does look nice, those air traps are sweet. does it have to be acrylic though? Over here we have up to 55mm pvc tubing, surely it would be possible to use that.

I think its Acrylic just to "look" cool.. if you have colored die/blacklight..

yea so he did. I am glad it is still around. He probably made some modification to his case so nice that even he could do nothing but stand in front of it all day and drool.

So true pHaestus.. I think my attention span is getting the best of me.. I'm not understanding how to put this together.. oh well =D)..
