liquid Cooling?

In a few months a plan to submerge an entire motherboard and add-on cards, in super cooled Fluorinert (a completely non-conductive liquid) at a temp of around -50°C. but I’m not sure of the best way to cool it (either refrigeration system or use Peltiers),

So witch way do u guys think?

Refrigeration for sure... If you use peltiers, you'll have to use a lot of 'em to get the flourinert to -50. Investigate compressor based chilling.

Good luck!

Thanks Kevin, i think i'll go for compressor based cooling. But i don't have a clue about compressor ratings and what type of compreesor i need.

Any sugestions?

I had Two Gallons of Florinert.. That stuff costs $500 a gallon.. good thing I didn't pay for it. I was going to build a submersion cooling system. Then my place burned down and the florinert went up with it.. oh well... back to the drawing board.

i have a tip for you, use oil, regular mineral oil, a bit messy and hard to clean the MB after use, but, its alot cheaper.

allso, all the capiators (unshore of the english word) contain some sort of liquid, and are made for roomtemp, i dont know what happens to them when the freez at -50..

anyway.. my tip is just lower the MB and cards and stuffs in the oil that holds around -5 centigrade insted, thats more then enuff cooling for any GF card and any nothbrige..

and then use a peltier/sink/whater combination on the cpu, mutch lower temps.

thats my thouts..

Have you double-checked the pouring temp of your flourinert? This project was done once already, and the person who did it had the flourinert freeze on them, so they couldn't pump it.

3M shows pouring points between -25 and -101C, depending on which stuff you buy.

You may want to check out
3M specialty fluids: Flourinert

Hope that helps.

Mineral oil can corrode your motherboard and will swell the sealing gaskets on capacitors causing them to fail and the stuff makes one hell of a mess
