YY Cube - Pre-installed window??
Hey gang, I have been giving some thought to customizing my system again. I am going to be building a YY Cube system. Does anyone know where to get one with a window cut out already?
The last time I installed a window in my last case, I did it with a jigsaw and it was no fun at all. If I can get one with a window precut, that would rock. Of course, I don't want to dump a fortune into it. I saw a nice cube at the wahoocomputers site, but its like 279 bucks, when I can get a virgin YY Cube for 150. If anyone has any idea where you can get one, I'd appreciate it. Otherwise, some advice on cutting a window without screwing up would be great. Thanks |
I cut a window into my YY w/out much trouble. What exactly happened before? A dremel will take a longer time than a jigsaw, but you can move slower and have less of a chance of screwing up. You can consider that. I don't know many places that sell YY cases, let alone modded ones... so what happened w/ the last window and we'll try and help ya out.

I think I might be able to help!
http://www.blitzmillennium.net/LRAVEN/PIC00005.JPG Run any questions past me! I think $275 is a bit much for that wahoo case...It looks like great work, but I think your paying a LOT of that for labor that you could do yourself. Hell, if you get the parts and pay for shipping...I might do it for you for the cost of a happy meal...:D |
I successfully cut a window out on my last case, but it was time consuming and a pain in the arse.
I traced out the outline of where I wanted to cut my window out on the backside of the case cover with a marker. I then drilled a hole in it with a large bit as a starter hole, and I broke out my jigsaw and went to town on it. The part I screwed up on was that I cut the bottom edge of my window too close to the metal that catches and secures the side panel to the case. I didnt notice until I was done. I also cut the window just a little too large IMO. I mounted my window from the inside via brass screws instead of the sealant strip since it wasn't being sold online at any place I could find at the time. I did take the time to file the minor sections that were jagged to a smooth finish. I think it turned out ok overall, but I just would have rather avoided going through the trouble since I really made a mess customizing my last system. Ok, one question for you YY cube pros. What size window should I order for it? I want to save as much time as I can and get a premade window kit. I'm not sure what the dimesions are of the cube, and I'm too impatient to wait 5 days until it gets here to find out. The site I got it from didn't have the dimensions and they didnt answer the phone, although they shipped my order (got an email confirmation). I guess I stumbled over the site by luck because it looks like nobody else has them in stock. The site I went to had them in the creamy color (hate it) and black. I ordered a black one to save me the hassle of repainting it. Thanks -Ice- |
I got the www.pcmods.com oval window and it fit perfectly.

What size is that? That's perfect !
thanks |
heh, heh...mines bigger then yours...heh, heh...
:D |
LOL. I'm not going down that dark alley.. hehe
Ah, I feel like a dummy. The pcmods windows are all 8x11. I was thinking of the caseetc windows, which come in two different sizes (12x16 and 9x12). The pcmods kit you have looks great and seems to be a perfect fit for your case, so I think I will go with that. Now I have a better idea of how big the cube actually is :) I can't wait to get my paws on it so I can start working my magic. |
Check out the 9891 Chenbro at Newegg. Great cube case for watercooling.

Go here: www.circotech.com
I got the cc1020. It cheaper and bigger than the cc1010. I think it is made by the same people too. Don't let the econ fool you, that case weight 60 lbs without psu. Circotech is great too, they answer all my email, and when my power switch broke, they sent me a new one. Shipping is average, they sent the case from Ca to Oh for $40. |
