Man I hate people who rip off other peoples ideas!
Man I got this link!!!!!, Someone is ripping off my SPIRAL IDEA, ACRYLIC COVER AND ALL!
GOD that pisses me off! And they cant ever get there site to work right! http://www.geminicool.com/ |
Thats why you have to patent things. Question is....who came first? I doubt he did, but he could get a patent and screw ya over.

The spirol design has been floating around for some time. I even had a few drawings of my own for one but never made it because I saw Fixittt's a while ago. I always try to do something different just because I have some pride and morals, but others just want to make money. The main trick is to try and undercut the others prices and keep a larger instock availability of them so people don't do to them. |
you know their address, now go beat them :P

notice how they cool the ram and gpu without taking up a pci slot. there was that thread floating around in here about something similar |
Sweet.

Sux bro...

Not sure what he is refering to by this:-
"The copper design ensures excellent heat transfer and a think acrylic coating protects the metal" Guess he means "Thick", but I hope the channeling isn't coated? Also I'd considered that method of arranging the blocks on the VGA, but it's mixing the hot GPU coolant with the cooler ram, less than Ideal, as is running the complet cooling in series. looks pretty though. :) On another point the spiral looks great but some have been waiting for it far too long acording to this thread I'd like to try one also, but when???? |
Running mem+gpu in series brings near-zero penalty if your water flow is high enough.
However i see rather small diameter fittings there. maybe 1/4" ? I like the blocks design but definitely not their plumbing... |
Man, looks like they ripped Bladerunner AND Fixittt at the same time. Plus that little Res/Pump & Integrated Radiator looks pretty POS'ish. It's really sad how some people on the internet work.
|
I think what he means by the Acrylic coats the metal... Is that the copper you see, though the acrylic, won't tarnish, because the acrylic is on top of it.... That's what I get.
|
How would that help, you still have water rinning about in there, and any sort of covering on the top of the block would do the same thing, and I really hope people are using tops on the blocks for other reasons.

I don't think this comment is related to the acrylic top:- "and a think acrylic coating protects the metal" because he mentions the top at the end separately:- "In addition to this, the clear cover showcases the good looks of the spiral water channel." It sounds to me like the block has been coated with "something" to prevent it lossing it's shine, like I lacquer the outside of my blocks. I'd imagine this would include the spiral channel as it's on show, again less than Ideal for heat transfer. Of course I could be completely off base and talking out my ass hole, it does happen often :p It just seems from all the points we have picked up on here added together, it's another koolance type "also ran" all in one jack of all trades master on none :) |
Oh and the material of GPU / NB blocks is anodized aluminium. I understand why they coat their *copper* cpu block channel with "thiCk" acrylic...
Well at least it exists, and will push water cooling products further on the market. That means, more stuff at the local store. More stuff means more crap, but also more good products... We want this, dont we ? (yeah i know, we all like the stares when we tell people that our comp is water cooled... and we want things to stay like this...) |
The entire setup is with like 1/4" tubing. Blah. Fixitt I would have purchased a spiral but you just don't have any available. Or I would have to wait months for one. I respect your design and your creativity. Keep up the hard work. If I ever see your stuff readily available I'll switch my maze 2 for one of your spirals.
|
I think Fixittt should just license it to geminicool (or whatever their name it) and just let them do the work for him =]
|
Does he really want someone to market his block by saying it collects heat in the corners?

I noticed those guys pimpin on [H] for about a week before Fixittt caught on, and they even had the balls to say that they didn't know that someone else made a spiral block (oh my!!!).
My first reaction was "Hey, those guys are rippin off Fixittt's patented design", and I really think that they should have approached Fixittt first, but it seemed inevitable that someone would move in on his business sooner or later... Everyone, everywhere knows that Fixittt was the FIRST to design and produce this block in any numbers, but to be fair (personally, I really admire Fixittt's work), I see more posts about people waiting on Spirals than people talking about how great they like theirs (meaning that there are more people waiting for Spirals than those that already have one). So now you have a high demand for something, but only one source to get them...demand drives the market right??? I think maybe Fixittt should have really concentrated on mass producing these things so that everyone who wanted one could have one...but since he didn't...I think he could pass the design on to public domain and bask in the fame (Can you say Xijinn and the BONG), or license the design out and make a few bucks. I don't think it's right that those guys ripped off the design, but if there wasn't a supply issue, they would never had a chance to get in in the first place. Lastly, don't think this hasn't happened before in waterblock designs...don't know how many of you know the name Ed Lawrence...I think he had a patent too...can you guess what block he designed that got ripped off real fast??? The Tidal Pool Block...History repeating itself |
the differance with the bong is that Steve never attempted to sell them. He showed us what he made, what results he got, and everyone built them because they are easy to build.
While with Fix, it isn't possible for everyone to make a waterblock, so we have to rely on him |
Yeah and while we are on the subject of Hard OCP they, (the owners), seem to have some double standards. I got banned for posting an "advert" about the GF3 cooler, I only posted 1 topic, got no warning e-mail or anything. I posted what I considered a "heads up" topic simply because the hardforums were talking about it, (I was getting hits on my sever following the links I found these topics), and many were asking for details about when or if it would be available to buy. I replied with what I knew, but said I didn't have the ability to make any myself, but would post any details when I had them. When I later did, the topic was deleted and asking Kyle why resulted in a ban accused of advertising.
It wasn't meant as an advert, but all the Spiral block posts seem to me to be equally an advert on Kyle's definition  |
Hmm that's interesting Blade, and I think it really sucks...
I e-mailed Kyle couple of times about, how CPUFX/OCersHideout pimpin their products in the forum... we discussed this with Steve, too.. I also asked them why they're only mentioning CPUFX/ Ocers but nobody else... but they let'em do it and on top, instead of banning them, they continue to mention their products like no one else exists in the water cooling arena... so I think Joe was right about his rant (i think you should use their real names though, Joe)... anyways what surprised me most, is Kyle and Steve, both wrote me that they don't have time to check their own forums... that' s why I said it's interesting in the beginning. I think they've time right now (or they didn't tell me the trutth 'cause as you're saying they've double standarts)... they even couldn't come up with a good watercooling review 'till now ;0)... even the DR's staff did water cooled OCed Intel vs AMD review... |
Hey bud,
Yeh using their names would have had more of an impact, but would have left me open for baseless lawsuits and other annoyances such as that... ( look at what tommy's Hardware Guide did to AMDZone when they ranted basicly the same I did just about THG....) I do not mind at all people like blade/fixittt/jaydee or some of the other smaller places posting about their gear in the forums. But if Danger Den, BeCool, OCH or any of those places started trying to sell their stuff in the non FS/FT forums I would have issues with that. Oh well I gotta get to work, later! |
I don't want to take this to far off topic, but It was a moderator that saw my post, I posted the exact topic that is in the below link on Pro.
Retail Asus GF3 water-cooler kit.... initial "Alpha" He saw it and thought it was so good it should be on the Hard OCP front page, when he told Kyle, he said delete it as it was just an advert. This was doubly annoying as they had linked to my stealth cooling on the main page a week before. Well I guess that topic above could be seen as an add, it never really occurred to me, but I was posted as a heads up. I did try to get over that I AM NOT anything to do with cool comps business to Kyle, many many times here and elsewhere also, and in fact I'm yet to receive anything from Cool comp, (they still have one of the reference GF3 cards I sent them 4 months ago  ) My real annoyance at Kyle is his arrogance, If he had said "He" sees it as an advert and had said please don't post it again, I'd respect his wishes, but his stance was that It "IS" an advert and I was lying, that really irks me . I for one, (and I hope most would agree), am only trying to be part of and help the water-cooling community, from a quick read of my site it should be obvious I have no ulterior motive. If they have a no advert policy it needs to be rigidly upheld, but their, (Steve is in bed with Kyle, figuratively speaking), stance seems to "spit" on the community at their own discretion. It seems the "power" of their position has gone to their heads, and they have forgotten about their roots, very sad imo. *Edit* Joe had posted while I was typing, I just want to say I'm not selling anything and never have, I'd like to be able to make my blocks for others but I just don't see how I could "productionise" them and keep the quality, as such I wouldn't do it it unless I could, but will always show how they can be made yourself free of any charge :dome: |
"Yeh using their names would have had more of an impact, but would have left me open for baseless lawsuits and other annoyances such as that... ( look at what tommy's Hardware Guide did to AMDZone when they ranted basicly the same I did just about THG....)"
Yeah you're right Joe, and there's that ugly law suit part that I didn't think about... we all got it anyways... |
