Help me "Read" this Athlon Code
Ok, as I said in a few posts, I've been out of the upgrade/
hardware/watercooling thing for a long time now. I hear people talk about a "Y" revision XP processor and it being a MAD overclocker. I've also checked out my processor compaired to the Overclockers.com Processor OC database, and either I'm reading this wrong, or I have a really late week. I've not done this since the "Blue Meanie 750Mhz". So that was a while ago and I'm a bit outa date. Tell me what this is and if it's a good one... AX1700DMT3C AGKGA0149WPHW 98196669132 Now, if I'm reading this right, it's a week 49, right? And is this "Y" batch that people are talking about from a specific plant that's just making killer OC chips or what? Would the "Y" be part of the Serial Number? In advance, thanx for your help getting me back up to speed! |
AX1700DMT3C
AGKGA0149WPHW 98196669132 Athlon XP, 1700+ the rest of this line is cache, voltages, things like that AGKGA is the batch code, 0149 is 2001 week49 9 means it probably won't overclock too well |
brad many "9"'s OC just fine...

Well so far it was only able to do 145 FSB before unlocking. I'm
still awaiting my new water pump and some other electrical parts before I assemble my YY Cube and see how well she runs unlocked. If I had known about the "Y" code, I would have just hand picked my processor. Instead I just grabbed what I thought was the latest week with the idea that the later it is, the better chance that the plant was more tuned in and making higher grade of processors.... Or so I thought... |
Joe, many do, but it is generally accepted that Y's will OC about 5% higher than a 9 or a 4. K's seem to be very erratic though, some are awesome overclockers, while some are really bad.
we still don't actually know what this Y, K, 9 and 4 stuff means, if it is a batch code, or speed coding or what |
Y cpus are supposed to overclock better than "9" cpus
|
And the St. Louis Rams were supposed to be better than the Patriots :dome:
The truth is, you don't know for sure until you see what happens. Here's my XP: http://mx6.250x.com/portablepc/pc3.jpg |
