DH4 alt. DH3 rev#1

is there ever going to be a revised, or a followup on DH3?
i mean, using Black Ice(or BI II, BI XTR), using larger pumps, and like 150w peltiers, all to cool a dual palomio MP setup?
case..hmmm Lian-Li PC78 (largest mofo of a case around... that isnt cube)

(yes i know im crazy... dont complain...)

Brad 02-06-2002 01:28 PM

Joe is going to do it, it is just a matter of time. I know he has thought about doing a DH 3.5, which would be the DH3 with bigger pumps and radiators, or DH4 which would be virtually all new.

Rather than make a DH3 revision, Joe is going straight to DH4 I think he told me. But that is on the back back burner I think right now.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Joe just got a job but a few weeks ago, I know when I was in those shoes a $1K + project was a little bit outside of my budgetary abilities. Hell, even now there's no way in hell I could afford something like that.

ksw 02-06-2002 04:10 PM

hmm let him(or we can do it for him...) get a paypal account that we can make donations to.

Brians256 02-07-2002 01:30 AM

Joe has a paypal account, although I'll let him reveal what the code is.

Kevin 02-07-2002 02:55 AM

No. ProCooling doesn't work like that. Joe wouldn't accept donations I hope. I'm sure he wouldn't.

Kevin 02-07-2002 02:56 AM

err... on that note, we don't ask fans to pay for this site anymore than clicking on interesting ads and what not and visiting the site and keeping traffic up.

you are of course welcome to send all your spare cpu's, ram, mobo's to us though, we'll give them a good home :P

seriously though, Joe will get to it in his own time, I know that for the next month or so he will be concentrating on moving to a new apartment, then we can expect to see site stuff being done again

Joe 02-07-2002 08:34 AM

DH4, or DH3 Rev2? or DH3.5?

I have some plans... shit.. I have a lot of plans. But it will take time to get the funds and get my life stabilized enough to do them.

Its going to be VERY hard to one-up DH3... I mean DAMN ****ING HARD. But with the time lag I am going to have before I get started, it gives me a time to develop some new stuff to show off in that. ( just as the 4 months of R+D that went into DH3)

Donations - Nope. Sorry I dont take money for projects from readers. Just not my thing.

Anyway, ProCooling is at a rather potent point right now... even with the lack of serious postings on the site for the last 2 months, the site has grown with traffic and audience almost 2 fold!! Just imagine once I get some money! :) Having pH and Brian, and IronHelix joining the staff will help to re-energize the site ( I hope).

theres lots of stuff in the works :)

DH4 should have 2 heater cores, 2 156w pelts and power supply, 3 EHEIM 1048 pumps, 1 4x4 rad (for chipset and video) all DD blocks, tyan dual socket A mobo, 2 golden sockets (for overclocking) and a big ass case. thats what i would do. Sounds very costly but VERY cool if you got the funding:cool:

Brad 02-11-2002 02:25 AM

I wouldn't bother with the tyan board, I'd go to asus, epox or iwill. Otherwise, thats a nice sounding setup

ksw 02-11-2002 07:43 AM

acctualy. isnt it easier to overclock an single-cpu computer... oh im just babbling. i couldnt know,. i havent got the funds to try. but i will when my new Northwood arrives...yummy!

Pyrotechnic 02-11-2002 05:20 PM

Double Header machines have to be double CPU. Just need to find a good Dual AMD mobo with overclocking features.

Brad 02-12-2002 03:51 AM

ksw, its easy to cool a single cpu inside a computer case, you try doing it to two cpu's.

ksw 02-12-2002 03:18 PM

yeah. maybe its harder to do 2 cpus, but still, if one is lesser quality than teh other, isnt it harder to OC then?

Pyrotechnic 02-12-2002 04:36 PM

usually when you do dual cpu, you have matched chips, IE: same stepping and such

ksw 02-12-2002 04:39 PM

usualy... that sounds liek something ppl talking about compaq and overclocking doesnt mention.. oh well. didnt knwo that. thnx

Brad 02-13-2002 05:05 AM

just put some more voltage into the chips ;) I find my vp6 feeds .02v more into one cpu, so I put my weaker cpu into that socket
