DD5 reset issues....

anyone have a problem with the DD5 resetting when you turn on your computer? mine will reset about 30% of the time i turn my computer on.... it seems like there is a quick power dip which is basically powering on, off, then on again my DD5

anyway to prevent this? or do i have a ghetto psu? (i think its like a deer or something equal.. but i wanna know if others are having the problem)
i was thinkin of using a Cap and a diode but the DD5 would suck out all the power when i power my box off. therefore, having nothing left when i power on

help me out

does it actually lose all your data, or does it just turn off?

I'd say the only way to fix this would be a new psu

yea it resets the whole damn thing which SUCKS cause the alarm starts goin off since i took that little fan off... and everything has to be reset
im probably gettin a 400-450watt PCP&C in a week or 2
just got an 80gig seagate barracuda... im slooowwwly reducing my want list =)
but after dumbing a shitload of $ into copper stock.. im kinda broke... hoping to make it back with some low profit sales of waterblocks

now that'd piss you off hehe. what is your 12v like normally, and under load?

right now its 5.06 and 12.32... i have a feeling that it can put out stable CONSTANT draw but sucks when there is a surge (boot up).

it is an AHEAD SH-350

Hi Digi,

I'm using DD5s in my systems as well and I never had such issues with them...
I think it's power supply realted, too... BTW how many fans do you have on DD5's headers?

Bruce

DigitalChaos 02-09-2002 07:53 PM

i have no fans on my DD5 right now.. just 4 sensors

dacooltech 02-09-2002 08:10 PM

hmm i see...

I honestly don't know what may cause the reset issue, other than PSU... Did you try a different PS?

Bruce

not yet.. gonna get a PCP&C in a few weeks... if that doesnt fix it then there is NO way it is the psu

Brad 02-10-2002 06:37 AM

hell yeah, if the pcp&c doesn't fix it, I'd try to get another dd5 from whoever you bought it from
