Pro/Forums - OK, I'm really confused! (Eheim pump barbs)

I want to build an all 1/2 in system. I was planning to use an Eheim 1048 or 1250 pump. You probably heard me say this in another thread.

Here is my confusion.

Dangerden's site says:

But Eheim's site says:

1250...Centrifugal pump
Hose connection (suction side) Ø17mm (3/4")
Hose connection (pressure side) Ø13mm (1/2")

A contradiction. So I emailed dangerden and posted in this forum hopeing to clear things up.

The fittings that come with the 1048 are barbed for 3/8". If you use our adaptors it will convert them to a 1/2" system. The adaptors are on our misc. hardware page. The barbs that come with the eheims have an o-ring so we aren't comfortable replacing them with a diffent fitting. Hope this helps.

Perhaps I'm just a little dense, but I really am not sure if I can stick a 1048 or 1250 out of the DangerDen package into my 1/2 inch system and have no bottlenecks! DangerDen says they are 3/8 and can't be easily changed. GuyBFF says they are 1/2inch and can be easily changed. Meanwhile Eheims site says something else.

Which is it? Perhaps someone here actually owns a 1048 or 1250 and can tell me what it looks like?
