Innovatek Style RC Tank Mod
Here's how I modded the RC Tank for the Eheim pump...
thought you guys may wanna see this... http://www.cooltechnica.com/personal...ank/RC_mod.jpg Plumber's goop works like a charm here - as always- ;) http://www.cooltechnica.com/personal...in_da_Tank.jpg 2cm wide hole in da tank! additionally you can use some conformal coating here: http://www.cooltechnica.com/personal...insulation.jpg http://www.cooltechnica.com/personal...Tank/DC_cc.jpg I've been testing it for about a week now, no leaks whatsoever... BTW I still think procooling style RC Tank mod is the best though ;) Bruce |
OMG, I haven't seen that much plumbers goop on a pump since OCWC was still in business.. ;) hehe.. Looks, um, interesting.. Does it work well?
|
I have a pretty similar setup on my YY cube H2O coolin @ home. Yours looks pretty good ;). hehe una... hehehe
|
Una it works really good indeed... didn't have any problems till now as it's double sealed... but still testing... heh guess you're right about the goop... I have lots of them lying around so i'm squeezing the hell out of those damn goops ;)...
BTW I got the idea of using RC Tank as a reservoir from your "The Rock" article... Thx Kevin... BTW how do you like your YY cube? |
i did that same thing with my marineland 1140 and 4x4x4 PVC marine box
|
is it very strong though? thats the only worry I have, that a bump might snap the tank off, or just cause a leak
|
I think it's safe as it can be Brad...
the pipe part of the Eheim goes in to the RC tank and used quite a bit of goop there ;) also filled the inside of the cover with conformal coating... and used goop for the round edge of the cover part, where it makes contact with the flat surface of the RC tank... i think you can use crazy glue here as well, didn't use it though... and finally sealed the external edge of the part with a bit of goop again... ahhh love the smell of the goop heh;) http://www.cooltechnica.com/personal...sealed_top.jpg OK here's what I did finally... actually sealing the outer edge seems not so important... hehe Una you may not need to use too much goop here;) I made a slight opening with the screwdriver as shown in the pic below, and with the pump still running hold it from the tank in the air... http://www.cooltechnica.com/personal...ng_da_tank.jpg No leaks ;) BTW I don't take any responsibilities, whatsoever for the above said... If anybody wants to try this -you don't need to- try it at your own risk and don't blame me if anything goes wrong... if anyone's worried about leaks procooling style is a better choice and requires less time to build... http://www.procooling.com/reviews/ht...e_review.shtml http://www.procooling.com/articles/h...t_1-mods.shtml I would have Part II written up and done, but Chip messed up things for my berry berry badly. This case is perfect for fitting a normal H2O system and a full load of components or a pretty substantial H2O system and still a full computer. I'm hoping Spring break I can put the next part of the write-up up. -Kev |
Hey Kevin... great job man...
