2x maze2's on a vp6

Heh, I can see you all thinking what the hell, waterblocks requiring the 4 socket holes mounted on an intel board, where there are no holes.

I also own 2x maze1c's, they have the spring hold down thingee. I was comparing the blocks to each other when I noticed that they were the same height and width, and I came up with this idea. It works just perfect.

The central inlet is slightly offset, this would be an issue with 1/2" ID, 3/4" OD tubing, but not a problem otherwise.

The other thing I'm slightly worried about is the block is a bit bigger and heavier than the maze1c, I only have the holddown that uses one lug.

Apart from those small minor issues, this is really great. Even useful for athlon owners who don't have the holes, or are just testing and don't want to go through all the hassle of the 4 bolts every time the block is mounted.

Definately recommended

forgot to say, DDen sell extra maze1c holddowns seperately

I didn't know that...SWEET!!

Brad 02-15-2002 05:43 PM

hehe, I don't think anyone did, either way, it is seriously cool, I'll upload a couple of pics later on tonight

So are the Maze1C and the Maze2 the same thickness then? I would be worried about mounting pressure (unless the Maze2 is thicker). I like the Maze2 bolts because I can really crank em down :)

Brad 02-15-2002 08:08 PM

yeah, I talked to Dennis about it, the normal maze1c and maze2 are the same height, I'm using the maze1c1 and maze2-2 here, but it is all the same..

That is sweet. I hate screwing with the Maze2 bolts when testing stuff (though I like them for permanent mounting). Maybe I will pick up one of those Maze1C clamps...

look at the directory now, the last 4 pics show something unique. Anyone who wasn't in the chat 5min ago care to guess what it is?

that is one monster WB, lol, damn thing will crush the core, scary :D

72 510 02-15-2002 11:20 PM

I'd say 2 maze2's soldered together with a single coldplate ;)

Brad 02-16-2002 01:35 AM

nahh, it is a maze2 coldplate, with 2x 172w pelts and 2x maze1c's

nothing will break the core if you do it right

!! I WAS GOING TO GUESSS BUUUT NOOO YOU HAD TO GO AND BLURT IT OUT DIDNT YOU!

Brad 02-16-2002 03:02 PM

72 510 was wrong, so I had to reply to him, you should have got here earlier :P

what did you think it was though

72 510 02-16-2002 07:01 PM

well considering the maze1c's look exactly the same as the maze2 what did you expect? :(

72 510 02-16-2002 07:13 PM

oh I see, its missing the 4 mobo mounting holes ;)

mkosem 02-16-2002 10:53 PM

they are also not as wide

mkosem 02-16-2002 10:57 PM

also, brad, why did you choose the single tab socket hold down rather than the 3 tab since the socket370 has 2 tabs on it.

Brad 02-17-2002 02:14 AM

maze1c is 60mm long, maze2 is 80mm long

I didn't choose, I got the very first two maze1c blocks ever ;)
