What is the best water block?

Hey! I'm looking to set up a water system, but have heard many different opinions as far as blocks go. Until recently I was looking into the z4. That got blown away as it blows and now I'm back for more suggestions. Now I'm thinking Maze2 , however that block from morphling1 looks pretty damn sweet

Let me know what you all think because I'm lost as far as which way to go.

Thanks!

That is hard to answer at this point. There are about 5 production blocks that all perform about the same. DDMaze2, Swiftech's, Innovetch(sp?), Spir@l. They are all good.

redleader 02-17-2002 12:30 AM

I would use either the Spiral or the Maze2. Since you would have to sell your soul to get a Spiral, I recommend the Maze2 from www.dangerden.com I have one and its a topnotch block. It mounts very well and performs great.

Brad 02-17-2002 02:09 AM

buy a maze2, you can use the 4 bolts, or you can use a maze1c clip, so it is quick and easy as well, top performance and good quality

Fixittt 02-17-2002 03:12 AM

Yes I would recomend the MAZE 2 as well. At least untill I can figure out a way (Which I am working on) to get the Spir@ls mass produced.

I do admitt, it is kinda like trying to buy a PT cruiser. But I am only one man.

Brad 02-17-2002 03:19 AM

ewww, who would want one of those under powered pieces of crap

Fixittt 02-17-2002 03:37 AM

OHH sorry, didnt know you felt that way..... sorry I mentioned it....

About the MAZE2 that is. LOL! JERK!!!! LOL

morphling1 02-17-2002 06:40 AM

I'm not going to say which is the best block out there. But I know my perform very good, If you don't mind wait for Joe's new water block roundup of all the major waterblock, including mine. But I'll probably change my desing cos' the M&B Cu block just takes too much time to make-> expensive. I'll do few more prototypes and then come up with final version that will no doubt outperform famous DD2.

Fixittt 02-17-2002 12:46 PM

Personally I dont really care if the spiral beats the MAze, that isnt why I did it. I did it because I could not afford a maze. :)

Hozie 02-17-2002 05:53 PM

See it this way.... the Maze-II cools well but is butt-ugly, the Spir@l cools equally well and is beautiful. And I mean ordering-one-extra-to-put-it-on-your-nightstand-beautiful. God knows I'd cut my left nut off for one. Until then, I'll have to make do with a Maze. :)

Fixittt 02-17-2002 07:57 PM

Ok HOZIE you gots a deal, Just send the nut to me, please have it marked so I am certain it is the left one, and your not trying to rip me off by sending me the right nut.

LOLOLOL (Just kidding, dont really do that!!!!!!!!!) U never know with some people, you have to tell them you are joking.

But thanks about the kind words about the Spir@l

#Rotor 02-17-2002 09:54 PM

fixitt, tell me if I hit the nail on the head.... you started making blocks because you can, and it was fun, you posted some pics on some site ...... and all of a sudden all these hardcore overclockers is now hounding you day in and day out because they want a block like that too.... :D

do you have a picture of your very first block you ever made... I still have mine.... and it still works 100%, is for a p2 266....

Fixittt 02-17-2002 11:15 PM

yeah Rotor, on the head. yes I have pics of my first block. And yes, it still works like it did back then. But I mainly made the Spi@l because I cound not afford a maze2.

I still have my first water chiller block I made to. Its on my website.

The first 2 blocks I ever made are in my first case mod pic here.
Its a huge pic
EDIT: BTW Rotor I sent U a msg on this forum, did U get it?

Brad 02-18-2002 12:37 AM

my first waterblock was a maze1c.....

Hozie 02-18-2002 05:01 AM

Say Fixittt, is that your left or my left? 'caus if it's yours, I'm gonna have to ask someone to sow the one I'm holding in my hand back on...

No, seriously, the Spir@l is one bad-ass waterblock. I almost can't believ that it turned out to be CHEAPER than a Maze-II. You're a lucky, but talented, git. :)

Dooby 02-18-2002 01:21 PM

How much is the Spir@l? I have to say it looks nice and perty.. :D
My quest is getting narrowed for a good water block..and so far the Spir@l is right up there. Also... where can I find one? Thanks so far guys. Keep up with the suggestions.

Cyph3r 02-18-2002 02:09 PM

You can order the Spir@l at D-Tek

Cyco-Dude 02-18-2002 03:06 PM

the spir@l is a nice block, but i dont think i could stand the waiting...

btw, a regular DD maze2 costs $42 and includes mounting hardware, while the spir@l cost $46 (last time i checked, and i dont even think d-tek is taking orders on them currently), plus the 6-8$ for mounting hardware.

me wonders how long until PC's next WB roundup.............

OO!!! i just fingered it out! the reason why there arent enuff Spir@ls is becuase Fixxxittttt is on the damn forums too much! get back to work *cracks whip* :evilaugh: :p

Fixittt 02-18-2002 09:25 PM

Cryo.....

yes the wiat is long, but I am working on a fix for that.

Right now I am but a one man show. I can only make them so fast, and it is a hobby of mine. I dont make them for a full time job, I have a full time job. And a family.

I am still utterly amazed at how my little project took off. I just wish I could afford the equipment to make them full time. But allas, I cant. So as long as I am still holding a job, it will remain a hobby for me, and the wait will be long.

It should also be noted that different blocks preform better with different hardware. I think that if you had a large powerfull pump with a Spir@l, then it prolly would not preform as good as a maze2 with a big pump, I could be wrong, but that is my thought.

Cyco-Dude 02-18-2002 11:59 PM

what would your idea of a 'big pump' be? and what makes you think that it wouldnt perform as well with a 'big pump'?

Brad 02-19-2002 12:44 AM

probably that the maze2 would have a bit of turbulance with high flow, while in the spir@l laminar flow may happen
