I'm Done!!

After two long weeks, I have finished my new watercooling setup. This consisted of a new Chenbro cube case, DD maze 2, super cube, GPU block and pump.

First off I'd like to thank all of you guys who answered by n00b questions that I fired off during this. I couldn't have done it without your help!

Here's some pics of the machine.

BTW: She runs at 29-30c idle and never gets over 35c while playing games for hours. Best of all, she's quite!!!!

Still alittle of clean up on the wires.

so what do you guys think?

Cyco-Dude 02-19-2002 11:19 PM

looks pretty good 2 me!

dacooltech 02-19-2002 11:28 PM

good job ;)

Brad 02-19-2002 11:43 PM

looks good, you airtrap is actually built right, although you might want to experiment with differant fan sizes, see how much airflow affects your results

decodeddiesel 02-20-2002 10:33 AM

Deffiniatly a clean looking job Rick, I am in the process of building an air trap just like Turbokeu's and yours to replace my RC Fuel tank. I like your case a lot, I was wondering how deep the side containing your Pump, Radiator, and res is? I am wondering if I could shoehorn a 6" heatercore in there.

scythe 02-20-2002 03:12 PM

looks very nice good think that cube has alot of space. what are you going to put the other block on north bridge or gpu?
That video card is huge is that a voodoo 5 or somthing lol.

Jim 02-20-2002 06:28 PM

Rick-
Nice job!

May I ask what is you ambient (room) temp? Also what processor?
Jim

Brad 02-21-2002 12:14 AM

decoded, it has to be at least 140mm for a psu, probably 160mm is a more feasible measurement, as the psu will have room around it

There is a ton of room on this side. There is still room to add a second power supply if necessary. I highly recommend this case. You can get it from www.servercase.com.

Yeah... that motherboard and video card is from my old system. I put in in there to get the tube cut to the right length. I took it out and put my real rig in once the system was tested for no leaks. I do plan to cool the north bridge soon just to remove the last fan!

And yes that is a Voodoo 5 5500. It's my all time favorite card. I keep it so I can say "what if" everytime I look at it.

Ambient temp is around 23c. I just added three more probes to the DigDoc 5 so I can monitor the temp in both sides of the case as well as the outside air temp. This was done last night so I have not looked at it since.

Sys config:
MSI KT7266-RU2
AthlonXP 1800+ (155x11.5 @ 1.85v)
PC2700 DDR
GF3 Ti500

Hmmm....very interesting. This is deffiniatly looking like the best option so far for a new case project. It's still in the air between this and a Lian Li PC7.

Brad 02-21-2002 08:15 PM

go for this case, you can find like 20000 Lian Li mods over the place, but this case is still fairly rare

Has anyone ever taken the cooling components out of a small refrigerator and put them in this case, instead of using only water cooling?

Brad 02-22-2002 02:46 AM

people try that all the time, not neccesarily in that case though..

mx-6* 02-22-2002 02:58 AM

So is it workable?

And is it still quiet?

I'm only interested because I have this small fridge sitting here and I know that it could do more than just sit there laughing at me. :D

Brad 02-22-2002 03:11 AM

you need a 1/3HP or larger compressor for it to be worthwhile

Jim 02-22-2002 07:07 AM

Well... What are you going to do with the heat expelled by the 1/3 HP compressor?

Jim

EMC2 02-22-2002 09:44 AM

j/k

Keep his coffee warm? :evilaugh:

Brad 02-22-2002 03:02 PM

remove it with fans

And the it sounds like you are air cooled! LOL!

I still got to reduce the noise with my setup. Going to try to build a shroud for the giant heater core I am using and apply only one 120 MM Panaflo and see how the temps are.

Jim

Brad 02-22-2002 03:39 PM

just run some 120mm 69cfm at 7v, you'll never ever hear them

I got two Panaflo 85 cfm 120 mm's on it right now. I worry about the 7v switch system. Some have said it can cause problems with the 12V and 5V rails, don't know for sure if this is true though.

I was thinking about building or buying a regulator from Case.etc to drop the RPM's

Jim

decodeddiesel 02-22-2002 05:16 PM

Jim I am running a 172mm monster of a fan at 7v right now and I notice no adverse effects on my voltages.

Thanks decodeddiesel, that's what I want to hear.
I took the 12v/7v switch I had bought last summer and hooked it up to the (2) 120 MM's I got on my heater core and went for it. I lost only (1) degree C at half speed (86 cfm full) and now things are getting quieter.

KD computer has Panaflo 80 MM "L's" for $6.95 so I ordered some to vent my case, I think that's a very fair price. Wanted to get the Pabst they are about 2 DBA quieter and about 2 cfm higher, but for $24.00 a piece, I couldn't do it.

Jim
