Have you ever seen an IV tube in a hospital? Crystal clear. Expense is do to the Medical grading (testing, purity, etc.)
ooooh yeaa... hmmm is there anywhere to get it without all the sanitary testing stuff?? it would probably be alot cheaper.
I go to the hospital enough (former cancer patient), I should be able to pick some up on my next visit there in March.
They love me there, I can get them to give me anything :D |
It isn't just a post process type of test. It deals with inspection and control of the entire processing facility. Usually class VI stuff is made in a clean room environment as well. That having been said, a lower grade may be less expensive and just about as clear, don't know. Find a company that actually manufactures medical grade silicon tubing and see what else they make ;)
that makes no sense thought, why cant they make clear silicone tubing for something other than medical? i just want cheap clear silicone!
They can and might. The clarity is based on the raw silicone used to make it (GE supplies a lot of it). The question becomes what other industry or business sector has a need for clear silicone tubing? (i.e. business decision on the part of the tube makers) There might be one, don't know. Didn't ever really care if the tubing was completely clear :)
crystal clear is sweet! lets ya know if anything is growin in your system, and makes it look cooler when nothing is =)
True :D Just a matter of $ ;)
hmm, my dad might be able to get some, he goes to the hospital quite a bit to do metal work there ;)
thing with hospital tubing... itll be too small
you know how scared i would be having 1/2" or 3/8" id tubing goin into my iv ? =) |
but they might use it for something else, follow the original link, some of that stuff is above 1/2" ID
I work at a hospital and I don't know of any department where you can easily get a hold of silicon tubing. Well at least 1/2" silicone tubing. If it is being used it's for a very few specialty applications and therefore swiping some would be quickly noted or hard to do. Not that I want to discourage anyone from trying to find the stuff. Cuz if you do let me know where it's at and I'll check my hospital also.
