YY cube owners

i really wanna get a water setup going, this seems to be a great case for the job. how much of that stuff do you have to tear out to make room for everything?

Brad 02-26-2002 08:38 PM

most people will remove some of the hdd bays to put a radiator at the back, thats normally about it

Brians256 02-27-2002 04:55 PM

YY Cube? hah! It looks to be too small and wimpy for me. I'm consuming two tower cases side by side right now, and I'm having difficulty fitting stuff in. That may be because I have 5 hard drives, a CDRW, a DVD, a heatercore, a big 300gph pump, a huge airtrap, two PSU's the normal mobo stuff, and an ugly nest of wiring and tubing.

Maybe I'll get it right next time. :D

Kevin 02-27-2002 04:59 PM

To put a standard watercooling system in it, the system is great! I'm even fitting dual heatercores in mine. It is just as big as a full tower more or less. Just cut in half and put side by side. I love mine.

But, Kevin, you forget one thing: you know what you are doing!

Hehe good call. I didn't see he was asking how much you had to tae outa the case. Well if you just remove the drive bays in the back of the component section (they unscrew) and cut an area out back there for a radiator, you'll be fine for a simple system. The front of the mobo chamber takes a lot more work than that.

I have a YY-0221B and I'd just like to start off by saying I love it. I just bought a watercooling kit off of http://www.overclockershideout.com and plan to install it as soon as it arrives. I plan to put the pump/res combo in the 3 extra 5.25" drive bays and mount the radiator either externally and wait to cut up my case when i get a BlackIce, or just screw myself over now and hack out the back where all the 3.5" drive bays used to be, before i took them out.....

Happy cooling.

Brad 02-27-2002 08:39 PM

heh, if it's their new 500gph bilge pump, remember to run it for no longer than one hour at a time, then wait at least two hours before running it again. If you don't follow this strictly, the pump will blow up. Also, remember it's performance is worse than a normal stock amd heatsink. I feel sorry for you.

GiMP 02-27-2002 08:42 PM

wha? All I've heard is good reviews about that kit.....

Brad 02-27-2002 08:46 PM

haha, thats because cpufx pays them to do a nice review. like the one at ipkonfig, there was atl east 17 major omissions/stuff ups in that article, even the author admitted to me over email that he did get to keep the kit for doing the article

GiMP 02-27-2002 08:48 PM

f******************ck

GiMP 02-27-2002 08:50 PM

Well I give up!!! I got the flow rate up, got it properly mounted, ect... I got it to 15C over water temp at 40C load.
Pretty freeking sorry for a $40-$50 block!!! That was a default with the Xp1600+ aswell.

I just dropped on an Air cooler and it is running 37C load with 23C room temp at defaults. It is a $9 cooler to boot!!!

That outfit is there to screw people out of their money. Over priced crap!!!

So far I am not even sure it is worth mounting but I will later. This block is pathetic in alsmost every way

These barbs cover a channel and a half!!! You can look down the hole and see one full channel and 1/2" of the one next to it. That just cannot be good. And the channels are tiny which I expected, but I thought they where deep to make up for the lack of width but they are not deep either

I could take 50 quotes from that thread if you want..

GiMP 02-27-2002 08:59 PM

this is not good.....

GiMP 02-27-2002 09:03 PM

Brad 02-27-2002 09:15 PM
