small quiet pump for dual system?
Hi all!
Well, it's always funny how you always think that your case is bigger than it really is. Anyway, I'm looking for a small (and I mean it SMALL) pump. I would like it to be quiet (not too picky about that), reliable (low maintenance, etc), and powerful enough to push the water around in a YY cube case. Space in the case is a definite premium. I am planning on getting a Black Ice Extreme radiator to cool both CPUs and DD Maze2 blocks. But after all of the stuff (cards, hdds, etc) I'm left with very little room. It really doesn't matter too much if the pump is submersible or not. I can make a res if needed. I think that I will have at most 10ft of tubing, and all of the wc components are contained in the case. Pics to come. Thanks! |

i don't know why the pics aren't woking. I tried 3 of my websites, but direct linking doesn't work so here are the hyperlinks. I hope these work!

i dunno what the deal is, but it takes me to here:

Eheim 1048, compact, ultra reliable (it'll out live every component in your system and then some), quiet, good looking, runs cool, German quality component...... You get the picture, Eheims rock.

Eheim 1048, for the same reasons decodeddiesel mentioned.
This is my YY cube case with a watercooled Athlon XP: (the Eheim 1048 is resting on a piece of foam) http://212.32.156.24/~mattias/stuff/.../full_view.jpg The pump is real quiet, but it vibrates some so decoupling it from the case is an issue you have to deal with if you want a real quiet system, as with any pump I guess. |
actually, I took the sliding base off of my 1048 and the vibrations are almost completely gone. With some left over foam from my pelt project I just duct taped it in the bottom of the case and I cannot even feel it on the case at all!

I'd have to go with the 1048 too, but if you can't spend that money, just buy a danner, you will have to leak seal it though
|
The 1048 is still a fairly large pump. I think it is almost 6 inches long. Make sure you measure and get the exact dimensions before you buy anything. I learned this the hard way with radiators three times. :(
|
I can probably squeeze it into the case so that it rests on top of the PSU, assuming that I have the rad mounted to the top of the case (how heavy is the Black Ice Extreme anyways?).
But will the Eheim 1048 be able to pump to 2 CPUs without any trouble (assuming "T" or "Y" splitters for the incoming and outgoing lines of the CPUs? |
there wouldn't be a problem with weight, 4 zip ties will do just fine
|
Click on this link, Eheim Pumps. Will have all the info. you need to make a sound choice on a pump.
|
another option you may want to considder is AquaVia pumps. They are a fairly new player on the water cooling scene but the pumps do boast a lifetime warranty and happen to be very small. I think you can get them from Leufken Technologies if you want to check them out.
