Fixiiit (please Read)
In another forum the discussion is whether you have a patent on the spiral water block design. Question to you sir, Do you have a patent on the Sipir@l shape/design/logo water block? If you do what is the patent # and what was the patent issued for? This is not to be negative towards you in anyway. Please only Fixiiit should respond.....

whats the forum address, I would like to see this myself.

Hi Fixiiit, the person who made this comment is DorrellCO and he answered my post which was,
How is this a patent problem? There are to many water blocks that use this design. All may not be in the spiral format, but in a court of law whether its spiral or rectangle they all use channels in the block to move water from point A to point B. Unless someone has a issued patent I do believe it will not hold up. Below are only a few block that use this design. Danger Den MaxXxpert Gemini Dtek Z4 Swift Koolance DorrellCO Reply, The Spiral is a very different than anything you listed exept the gemini. Just because they all have channels dosn't mean anything. The difference in shape is all it takes. If there is a provable performance difference between then then that is also all it takes. Just because it is similar dosn't mean the patent will not hold up. Other wise AMD and Intel would not be competeing. Ford, chevy, and Dodge would not have different motors in a certain vehicle as they would just use the best design of the 3. Fixittt has a patent on the Spir@l and it can be enforced, if need be. The link to the thread is, CLICK and his comment is near the bottom of the thread. |
Well I think the mix up is that NO I do not have a "PATENT" on the spir@l block. What I did do is the "Intent to patent" Which would protect me for 2 years. As patents are way way way expensive, and an intent to patent is only $80 and at the end of 2 years, I have the option to "Patent" or drop it.

Did you read this thread yet? The guy from gemini says that he didn't copy the spir@l block.
http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showth...threadid=73775 |
well would U say "Yeah I coppied him"
How many votes would that bring you? EXACTLY! |
My bad, I was informed that you DID have it patented. Does an intent to patent cover just as well for the 2 years? I know they are expensive as I tried before. It gets even more so if you have to take it ot court. Water blocks are patentable though and they will hold true if you can afford it. There are some differences between your Spir@l and theirs so a patent case may not work anyway.
|
yes the INTENT to patent secures the design for 2 years.

I think most oc'ers will regard the spir@l as the original regardless of any patents or anything.
I just wanna see a head to head comparison |
I do believe that Dtek was contacted as stated below,
Quote from John Hill, For the spiral block, I contacted DTEK Customs, the people who market the Spir@l Block (cute name) but they chose not to reply to my email. John is a very up front and very well respected at OC. If someone would like to send a Spir@l his direction I am sure it would be included in the WB shootout. |

Fixitt, I told you on the phone and through e-mail I designed my block myself!!! I am very tired of stating this over and over... I DID NOT TAKE YOUR DAMN DESIGN. Mine is so different it is not even funny! My approach is much different!
For the record. I stole nothing. The design is my own. After completing my prototype and posting some pictures I was notified about Fxiitt's design. Our two approaches are vastly different! They look similar but they are much different. From the size of the block itself to the water channel to the screws used to secure the top. Take a look at my website and tell me if the design is original or not. I have a notebook full of thermal calculations with several of the pages dated incase you really need the proof... I hope you don't hold any animosity toward myself or Gemini, because it is not deserved. Peter. |
i personally don't care too much peter, I feel fixitt's blocks are bigger, and more extreme, while yours are smaller, and for more normal setups

I look at it this way...
You all copied the guy who invented the concept of a spiral!! So stick it! *sarcasm* :D But seriously, you have a small area in which to pass water through. There aren't that many shapes that are effective. I bet you when I get finished with my waterblock; which is of a design of which I've never seen; someone will tell me that I copied it from ______. I don't wish to really defend Gemini here, but his block is different. His, I would say, would target more of the "I know I want a waterblock, and this one looks neat, so I'll get it" where as the Spir@l targets more of the "I wonder how big of a pelt I can shove under here?". I only say this due to a size/flow factor of the blocks. I, personally, wouldn't get either, because there doesn't seem (to my simple mind) that there is enough turbulance within the block. But hey, I still haven't built my system, so what do I know :p :p   |
