Laptop LCD panel and volume dial
I have a good LCD display left from a fried Dell Inspiron laptop. I've seen a good number of metal-briefcase mods incorporating an LCD display. Is it possible? If so, how?
Second, I want to build a rotary switch (like on stereos) that turns without stops for the sb live volume control mod. With each clockwise increment it should close the circuit for one pair of wires, and each counterclockwise increment should close another circuit. Pretty much like the wheel on an intellimouse. Any ideas? Thanx a bunch! |
Sorry, i left out a bit. I meant, how can I wire up the LCD display for power/signal so I can run it from my comp?
Thanx again |
This string may help http://www.poasters.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1772
Also, i know that this isnt exactly your match, but I assume that all laptop LCDs are more or less the same, so here is a page with info on a Sharp laptop LCD, this may help. http://www.eio.com/lq150x1dg11.htm hope that helped a little. |
Dell's typically use Samsung, Hyundai, or Sony LCD panels anyway, so it doesn't neccesarily matter

did that help at all?

Thanks a lot for the info. I guess the verdict is that I'll need to buy a $.$$$ converter card, and I'm not ready to plunk down that much right now. In any case, is there a difference between a laptop display and a flat panel monitor? 'scuse my ignorance, but how is a flat panel monitor connected to your pc? Is there a converter card-sort of hardware in the monitor?

i think for a flat pannel, you need either a dvi connection (like a GeForce4 or radeon 8500) or if your useing vga, it converts to digital signal inside the pannel. I think.
