12VDC Pelts at BGMicro
What do you think these pelts will be like? They are cheap (3/$20) and I was tempted to get them to try different ideas before buying a more powerful peltier.
Any opinions? |
not too powerful, and fairly small, they'd be good for ram I think, maybe even some on a gpu or nb, but definately not for a cpu

Well I have a few ideas I wish to try with these cheaper pelts. Some GPU cooling and a water chiller. I am not trying to go sub-zero on my CPU, I just want to hold and nail ambient, so a chiller might help that goal. I am consistantly at 10C over ambient with both my cpu and gpu at idle and about 13C with a full load.

What about using of those pelts for hard disks?
|
i would be hesitant doing it with hard disks, but then it may work just fine, maybe you should email seagate about that
|
Putting a pelt on a hd is a BAD idea, you won't get better performance, in fact you will get worce as the hd is set to work optimally with the platters at or just above room temp, at any other temperature circuitry has to compensate for the thermal expansion (or contraction) of the platters. Niether is it likely to give better reliability.
