::rasies hand:: PSU fan question mb!

whow i'd figure i'd ask you guys 1st 'cASuE joO know mb!

ne way; I was wondering if one could just 'cut' the fan right out of a PSU entirely - or will it fry the mobo once i hook the thing up again? - not 'cause them moltipieirs or whatver they are cook but because of volts that should have been eaten going places they shouldn't

In that case - would it be safer to replace the psu fan with a nice... brushless one [in my case loL, damn thing causes more racket than my 120mm fancey fan] ----um ...even if the amp requirements for the old and new fan are diferent??

::salutes::

I've replaced PS fans with no problem... Most of the older PS I've worked on only had 2 pin connectors.. So I had to shave down part of the 3 pin tail off the fan if it didn't quite fit.

You shouldn't have any problem changeing them out... But I would keep a fan in there, and not just leave it naked....

yeah it will be fine, unless the new one doesn't move enough power

No offence man, but god damn :confused:

Yes you can replace the PSU fan, I recently replaced the adda POS in my Antec with a nice Panaflow L1A. Just be damn carefull pulling that PSU open, even though it is unplugged those Capacitors (the large cylinder shaped components) will retain enough juice to knock you flat on your @ss, or even kill you if you're not carefull. Seriously be carefull not to touch ANYTHING inside your psu, and make sure it is unplugged prefferably for 12 hours before you work on it.

Also note if you fry your PSU/System/Dog/House/Self/Finger/Hand we are not responsible. Good luck.
