What do you guys think of the Koolance case?

Well the subject says it all 8). I was wondering what you guys think about the coolance case. How do you guys think the case at www.koolance.com will compare to a custom built water cooled system? thanks for your suggestions

resago 04-12-2001 01:10 PM

It looks like crap to me.

aluminum water blocks, water cooled PS? WTF?

hielko 04-12-2001 02:02 PM

I don't think it's for the figh performance oc'er, but I do think it's good for people who don't know much about h20 cooling who want a really quiet PC.

gmat 04-12-2001 02:25 PM

I dont think they made it with OC'ing as a goal. But it's so good for ppl who want silence and yet well cooled PC, and dont want to build everything from scratch....

I agree with the other guys, but the PSU and HD coolers look pretty damn 'leeto :) and as far as looks go the CPU block is a supermodel. Definately not for the [h]ardcore OCer.

Kevin 04-12-2001 04:49 PM

Well, the block has a copper base and that's all that matter so I wouldn't call it "aluminum." I bet it performs allright, but not the best. I just like how it is 100% quiet!

Ryder 04-13-2001 02:10 AM

Since the main concern you guys seem to be displaying is about the CPU block, do you guys think it will be possible to replace it with a different block? (ie the Danger den, or maze)?

fasterstill 04-13-2001 12:53 PM

your not going to get pelts on this system it has'nt got the headroom.heard rumors about a firm doing watercooled peltiers but nothing laterly'anyone got any info on the www.wetandchillychips.com system? :)

Kevin 04-14-2001 05:03 PM

From what I understand, you buy this koolance system totally assembled (you just have to attach the blocks) and they make it so you cannot disconnect the hoses. Just cut 'em ;).

Only problem that I've heard is the the tubes are 1/4".

For someone who wants GREAT cooling compared to existing H/S/F technology...it blows them all away. For those people, this is a fantastic little system.

For those of us fanatics, it's severely limiting.

It just depends on what you're looking for. Personally, I wouldn't mind having it for one of my other computers that isn't severely o/c'd just for the sake of having a really quiet system.

The w/b clamping device looks very well thought out. The water cooled power supply makes me nervous.

Still, for the right person, this is a pretty nice rig.

I can't really see the purpose of watercooling the PSU though, it doesn't generate all that much heat does it?

n00b 04-18-2001 06:11 PM

But the PSU has a fan in it, which creates noise. So by water cooling it, you eliminate yet another noise source in your system. I too would be a little wary about springing a leak in my PSU, but to have a completely quiet PC would be awesome.

Well i have wanted to get into water cooling but have always been leary about it. I went ahead and purshased the case to play around with. I will post results when I get it. I have a 1.3 axia tbird just using an alpha pal right now. I might mod it later and maybe do some things to enhance the water cooling parts but for a beginner i am looking forward to getting the case. Also I did not get the HD cooler I dont think that is necessary but I did get the video added. With tax and shipping its $220.

Kevin 04-19-2001 02:04 AM

DHX, have fun and let us know what its like!

On another note, boy is it gonna be funny when the first psu waterblock leaks. You KNOW it is bound to happen sometime. Can you say explosion? hehehehe!
