Wouldthis make a good res?
Hi all!
I went down to Home Depot and got an electrical PVC box. Just wanted to know if this thing is water-tight (from the inside of course!)? Thanks for input! |
yeah, they make great res's, quite a few people use them
|
i dunno if its water tight but im pretty sure a marine eletric box is water tight
|
I'm not sure if it's a marine electrical box, but it goes come with a gasket.
Also, what kind of sealant do you guys recommend to glue PVC piping together? Thanks. |
Sealant... use teflon tape perhaps. But I remember a while back i bought this yellowish stuff designed specifically for PVC... it worked like a charm. It was kinda smelly and stained the shit outat things. Hehe that's about the best I can give ya. Check home depot.

I think Kevin is talking about this stuff...
http://www.jakeandkelly.com/customco...8-1852_IMG.JPG The rectoseal stuff was recommended for sealing threads. It causes a mess like Kevin says but creates a reliable seal. Is this what you're trying to make? http://www.jakeandkelly.com/customco...0-2079_IMG.JPG I used the plumbers goop (seen above) to seal the lexan to the junction box. I bought all this stuff at orchard supply. |
Yup, that's what I was thinking about doing (or at least something similar). I wasn't planning on sealing the lid to the box because I want to be able to fill up the res if needed.
By the way, is that a pump in there? |
