Black ICE Pro?
What's the deal with the Black Ice Pro. It looks just like a Black Ice, but just in assorted annodized colors.
Is that the only reason why they call it "Pro" because it's colorful?? |
i believe the black ice pro is just a modified black ice prime; it has 1/2 inch fittings and makes 2 passes instead of 4 (so instead of 3 parralel channels making 4 passes, it has 6 parrallel channels making 2 passes so there is lower resistance, thus higher flow)
|
cyco is right. the BI prime is 4 pass, 3/8" The BI Pro is 2 pass, 1/2" and can come in more colours.
the BI pro is a better product obviously |
better flow in a radiator? I was under the impression that you wanted the water to go through the radiator slower, to have more time to dissipate more heat.
|
it does go through the radiator slower... but from the external view... the water goes in and out without being slowed down as much... therefore, increased flow to your whole circuit
|
It's was so obviously simple it confused me...

I've heard it explained before, but it got so technical I got lost with some of it. But my understandiing is that in a closed system the water leaving the rad has to be the same in flow rate to it going in. However with the use of chambers and channels what is changed in the velocity of the water. With a low velocity the water it given the opportunity to disipate its heat. Hence why heater cores are so good.
If I have got that wrong I'm sure some kind and forgiving person will inform us. :) |
