The air/water heat sink thing has been tried before... It's NOT a good combination at all....

Plus come on.... 1/4" OD barbs? Might as well try to cool the processor with a 10cc eyedropper :p

hah that thing looks like a thermoengine. to bad he didn't cut it in half, i want to see what it looks like inside. don't think I'm gonna pay 52$ for alu though. and forget that delta.

c the temps....its not really meant for ocing but comeon those temps are pretty great especailly the no radiator one

Yeah, but Chip's website posted excelent temps for his silver poly block....and it wasn' t that great at all......

I really don't trust block reviews unless it's Dan's Data, ProCooling, or Overclockers.com.... I want bias people who know how to make a writeup, and follow a specific method.

it's ok for the paranoid who are worried about pump failures, but we just need to remember 2fastcpu did a review of the och z4 kit and liked it.

Haddy, in the review we used an XP1600+ which is clocked at 1.4 GHz stock. The processor was overclocked to 1.6 GHz.

Ambient, the fan on the waterblock is not a Delta. It is actually a no name brand fan which is much quieter than your standard Delta fan, yet it provides good airflow.

WebMasta33, I'm sorry you only trust those websites... Sure ProCooling and the rest mentioned are great resources, but you are really missing out on a lot if you only trust those three. You want biased reviews? That doesn't make any sense to me... why do you want someone to lie or sell a product that doesn't actually work? That is misleading and just plain wrong. I'm also sorry that you don't like the way we do our write-ups as well as our specific method.

Brad, it isn't wrong to worry about a pump failure... they happen more than you think. What is so wrong with liking the Z4 kit? The kit they provided us with was put together very well and the block put up some very respectable numbers. OCH/CPUfx makes high quality products aimed at the high-end crowd. I am not going to lie on a review just because you happen to not like OCH/CPUfx. I'm sorry if you have something against OCH, but the fact of the matter is, the kit performed great. At the computer shop I work at, that is one of my main functions... watercooling desktops and servers. In fact, my business card says "Watercooling Specialist" on it. Needless to say, I've seen and tested a multitude of waterblocks out on the market, we just haven't done reviews on them. As for our other members, phlyingpenguin has two years experience under his belt and Iceman having two years as well.


Some people have requested us to test the waterblock without the pump functioning to act as if the pump was broken. The test is running just as I am typing this message and should be posted in the review in the next day or two.

I don't want anyone to take any of this personally, as I am just trying to defend myself, and my site. Thank you for your time everyone!

Like those 12V sump pumps that tend to die within a month and they don't warranty because you use the water wetter they ship the kit with?

I don't like och because of their business morals, like stealing jaydee's design, pimping themselves in forums, flat out lying on their site and stuff. The use low quality shit and try to fool idiots using a dell into watercooling.

no one in their right mind watercools servers, I'm not even going to start going into this
pumps don't fail if you buy high quality pumps.
O^2 is more biased than you, and almost as bad as ipkonfig.

I have not played with the blizzard kit, and I take everything in here and else where with a grain of salt regarding theirs or any other vendors products. There is always the slightest possibility that CPU/Fx-OCH had a batch of bad products go out. It may have been they were in a hurry to get the product to a customer (no excuse) or someone in quality control F'd up. (still no excuse) On the other side of the chip, there is also the possibility that they really have a slack quality control, unless a unit is shipped to a reviewer, then it may receive 'special' attention. I'm not saying this is the case, but a possibility.

So, that being said, here is why CPU/fx and OCH will not get my business, nor anyone else selling their product,
and not in any particular order.

Sales terms

"We "will" and have the legal right to bill your Credit card within 48 hrs of order receipt. This is to ensure your product is allotted to you as most items in our shop are configured to your needs. Our items are hard to find products and many are custom built."

My problem with this is it's rude. "will" as opposed to do is arrogant. I understand that they do have the right, and the need to stress it to avoid angry emails from people that don't understand that most companies do not charge until the order is shipped is a courtesy to show trust, not a requirement by law (with the exception of a few states) If they would've said "we do have the right to, and will bill your credit card..." I wouldn't have a problem with it. except for, "This is to ensure your product is allotted to you as most items in our shop are configured to your needs." This is bullshit, there are many other ways to ensure that a product is allotted to the person who ordered it w/o charging their card." Our items are hard to find products and many are custom built." ??? What kind of reason is this for charging before shipping?

"After 15 Business days of receipt of Items ordered." This bugs me because standard business model is 30days for a return, many now moving to 90 days to save customers warranty hassles. This makes me wonder why? do their parts tend to break after 15 days?

"Unless previous arrangements are made with an RMA number for defects or damaged goods. Damaged Items can be returned for a replacement for the sale amount. Shipping charges may be incurred based on the nature of the item and distance traveled."This is pretty standard. I do wonder though, if you make previous arangement, can you no longer return an item for the sale amount?

"All sales outside the Continental United States are "FINAL". Unless www.CPUfx.com or www.Overclockershideout.com has given written consent of agreed return arrangements." This is understandable.

"ALL peltier or tec units are non returnable after being used as are all items sold through www.CPUfx.com and www.Overclockershideout.com ." I kind of understand the reasons for this. OK

"All Items sold through www.CPUfx.com and www.Overclockershideout.com are sold for the hobby aspect of Overclocking and are recognized as so for this purpose. Any attempt to overclock any warranted computer or component will null and void any existing warranty for said or said items that you may own or posses. All items are considered experimental and are sold as this and are NOT guaranteed to achieve any specific result for any given device." I understand and accept this, except for "NOT guaranteed to achieve any specific result for any given device." The reason being is they show results all over the sight with what temps you can get. If you don't guarantee certain temps, don't give them unless clearly stated as an example. i.e. "out testing showed..."

"CONDENSATION is always an issue with super cooling with water and peltier or tec devices within a computer environment. We provide a certain amount of parts to help assist in prevention of condensation with the parts or application. However all systems are different and the industry is constantly changing which eliminates the possibility to provide all and any parts that may be needed to achieve this. As the end user you will be responsible for the installation of super cooling components.

We will not be responsible for damaged or lost data and or computer components with the application of water cooling devices sold within our stores @ www.CPUfx.com or www.Overclockershideout.com." This again I find acceptable and understandable.

Shipping Policy

Pretty standard, shitty for me because I live in Alaska and UPS only ships 2-day to here, but I can't knock em down for that.



The sight in general.

I don't trust it. why use both secure and non-secure items on the same page? What isn't secure?

The other problem I have is the sight design is not consistent I think I've counted 12 different variations. If you're going to redesign a site, finish it. If your too lazy to finish your site, how do I know you not too lazy to build be a quality product? This doesn't even begin to touch on how easy it is to lose your way in the site.

"1. All systems and water blocks are tested for several days." I'll give em a point for that one, I don't trust it for reason stated above, but I'll give em points for doing it.

"2. We are the only water cooling kit provider to include all the parts you need in your kit." Bullshit

"3. SOLID piece water block construction." What do they mean by solid? Strong and sturdy? one piece? It isn't liquid?

"4. All devices use 3/8" fittings enabling easy integration of other cooling devices." Sure, product from your site.

"5. Online instruction with pictures and Toll-Free Assistance." 1/2 point for having online instructions, and 1 point for a 800 number. Still it would be nice to know if there was a paper manual also. If you need to tear down your only computer to install the kit, an online manual does you no good. Sure you could print the manual before tearing it apart, but you shouldn't have to for a 'kit'.

"6. OverClockers Hideout was founded by overclocking enthusiasts."Being enthusiastic about overclocking, doesn't make one an expert.

"7. All products made in the USA." 5 point for Slytherin. But FYI, my 81 VW Rabbit was built in Ohio, my 89 Caravan that I had was built in Canada, and my Toyota was built in Kentucky. I don't think Fixitt has declared himself an independent sovereign nation.:)

"8. All packages Domestic and International have a Tracking Number!" They make people use UPS! of course there is a tracking number. Don't take credit for it.

"9. European and overseas 230v pumps available." Cool, just remember their made in the USA.

I would probably run one too if they gave it to me. maybe. If I could find a warranty or guarantee for the pump.

I can come up with more, but I have other things to do today. and I will probably not bring this up again. This "there products suck" is the reason I left the "other" forum. There are enough legitimate threads as to why there product/service are bad, post a link. or tell someone to search. Otherwise it's just a opinion not based on any evidence. and yes I realize that other sites have some of the same things I complained about, but 1, they are not at issue here, and 2. Not anywhere near as many, and not all at once.

they have been known to pimp their own stuff under so many differant names it isn't funny. for that reason alone I wouldn't buy their stuff. not forgetting it took 3 years of R&D to get to the Z4, then 2 weeks after Jaydee and Fix fixed it up, ther release a copy of their version that is 200% better

OCH is a terrible company, regardless of their products, their unethical and backstabbing business practices are just wrong.

They have screwed many people over for reasons that are INSANE!, like using water wetter, or not using a shim, or other pointless reasons. If they made a block that worked as good as a vapochill I still would never buy it.

Just cause its shiny, or pretty, or even cools good, doesnt mean its a good product. I perfer to not give my money to companies that thrive on misinformation, and bait/switch tactics with their customers.

Please look in this forum for multiple threads outlining OCH's business practices.

Thats a famous quote! He actually changed it, it used to say "I have used almost every peice of watercooling gear made" which was way funny cause off hand I could name prolly 8 companies hes never even heard of before.

I think that quote led to quite a few people being banned from HardOCP's forums cause they railed on him for that rather incorrect comment. Just cause you look at something doesnt mean you have used it.

Notice in OCH's forums that "Danger Den" and "Swiftech" are blocked out, they appear as ##### ### and ########. The only reason they do this is because danger den and swiftech are some of their main competitors. If their products were really as good as they say, they wouldn't do this. Plus, they tell you that you cant use water wetter or any additives in the systems, or it voids the warranty, if you dont use additives there will be so much growth and corrosion that the system will be destroyed. If you like OCH, or think they are good, you need to stop smoking that crack pipe........:D

thats like saying Ferrari and Lamborghini see Hyundai as a serious competitor. Noone in their right mind would say this, and noone in their right mind would say DDen and Swiftech are competing against OCH

You are sooooo right. Who the heck would sit in a meeting in and try and convince management that their servers should be water cooled ? Who the hell would attempt to overclock a production server that they didn't personally own? I know I wouldn't even consider putting water cooling gear into any of our production servers on the job. There are too many reasons why you would not want to do something like this.

Well, so far my pump hasn't croaked, so I will reserve judgement. I'm not sure how the heck you can run your circuit without additives without screwing up your other parts though. That had me a little pissed off, but I got over it since its still running without issue. If it fails, I'll pick up my pitchfork and torch too and stand in line.
