Which pump is smaller, Eheim 1250 or Danner 5?
I currently have a Danner Mag 5 and have been swaying to change to an Eheim 1250 do to noise and shielding. Are they close to the same size. I already have my system to size and really don't feel like resizing many hoses.

Eheims are typically known for being quite large, DDen's site has the measurement

The Danner should be virtually silent if installed correctly and all the air is out. Those Eheims look way too big.

I have an air trap located at the top of my case. I believe all the air is out, but not sure. The only noise I hear from the pump is the low-toned hum of the motor. This is the noise I am not sure would get quieter if I were to do the impeller trick.

what are you using to absorb the pumps vibrations? ive found that foam works quite well, and that rubber (or an old mousepad) increases the low-pitched humming somewhat.
just try using different materials to insulate the pump; there will always be a humming noise tho (wrapping the entire pump up might quiet it as well...) |
Thanks cyco. I cut a square piece of foam that was used to ship my CD-RW and it works much better. I just got a P4-1.6A and was spoiled by the little noise a water cooling system makes because that stock cpu fan is loud as hell. Ordering the Maze 3 today.

I had a Danner 500 and return the noisy pump. Plus it did not even come close to delivering 500 GPH. This pump is a Eheim 1250 and very silent.
