is it worth $ to watercool HD?
 

Right now I am working on rev. 2 of my current watercooled computer previous post of my wc comp

Im adding a waterblock to my northbridge, building a new res. changing my current fan confg, adding shrouds to my rad. adding UV cath., another mainfold. and possibly a maze3 i havent decided yet.

Im moving the HD to my mobo side. If it is water cooled It will be above my 92mm intake fan where my current res sits, if I aircool it, it will be in front of the 92

Im using a sinlge 40gig segate barracuda IV 7200RPM ata100 running winXP. This machine is used for games, and web surfing. The harddrive is warm to the touch.

A Harddrive block would cost me around 70+ dollars shipped. My Hardrive new cost me 85 dollars. Im planning on getting a serial ata HD when they are avialable next year.

So whats the verdict, should I geta wb for my hd or save my money for some other cooling addition, maybe a new ehiem pump?

id save ur money; a fan in front of the hdd or a hdd cooler (like the Vantec models, etc) will be fine.

It is really a matter of personal opinion. I argued over it a few times saying it is nuts to water cool your hard drive, but it is really up tp the persons personal preference. I will not say it is nuts to do it anymore as I look at some of the stuff I do that is nuts to others.

The benifits are a cooler drive that can be insulated to dampen the noise. That is about it. If your hard drive is loud and you don't want to hear it then it is something to think about. I can bearly hear my drives even with the most quetest system so I don't even bother with it.

I have two Cuda4s. I really don't see a point in cooling them unless maybe so you could use sound deadening. Even then they are so quiet . . .

Depends on how much $70 is worth to you.

just buy a $10 hsf, AS epoxy it on and it'll work just fine
