GeForce4 fan volume

how loud is the fan on the card. I had heard they were quieter than the older fans. I guess my main question is, will it drown out a stock intel HSF like an blorb does? I tried to search figuring it had to be asked before or at least mentioned, and came up with squat.

thanks

i cant really hear it over the loud 80mm on my pcp&c Turbo power supply... but it seems like the bearings are going on it.... i havent even had it for a month!

most ti4600 fans are quite loud, but mx440's are much quieter. just pull the stock fan off and aim an 80mm at it

that's what I did for my GF3... I just unplugged the little fan, and set a panaBLO :) L1A 80mm fan on top of my sound card, aimed up at the GF3. (I made 'stilts' for the fan by bending zip ties back and forth through the screw holes...) The airflow is great... warning: at 5v, the fan produces very little flow, and the card will overheat, crashing your system. I think 7v should be fine. I'd use a rheo and run it b/n 8-12v. (you can hear it at 12v).

I did the same thing for my Northbridge... the fan is sitting atop the GF3, aimed at the chip.

That would be a good idea for future reference, but I got to keep the warrenty for this one.

Damn:D

they won't know... just unplug the fan from the PCB... leave everything intact. the 80mm fans supply more air than those little whiny fans ever dreamed of..
If the card fails, just plug the fan back in and send 'er back... :evilaugh:
