Papst fans: Sintec or ball bearing?

which is best? It seems that the slower, quieter 120mm fans use the sintec sleeve, while the others use ball bearings. Which do I want?

Ball bearings might have a larger MTBF (check me on this), or they just might be cheaper than Sintec. I know that Sintec is quieter. Take a look at their web site. They have a page on the benefits of Sintec.

Personally, I'd go with Sintec. They are quieter.

sintec = fancy sleeve bearing

with most companies, sleeve bearing fans are their crappy cheap models. Papst are the opposite, their sleeve bearing fans are very good, I'd prefer to get their sleeve bearings

If I recall correctly, the reason that sintec bearings are quieter is that they don't "float" as much. Ball bearings are looser, causing them to click more as they come back into contact with the axle.

Brad is very correct. Sintec is the higher-end model for Papst fans.
