Dual water complete (pic)

I have the dual Athlon water cooler complete. This could possibly be the quietest system I have ever built. Four panaflow low output, probably will run them even slower. Here is the pic.

Pump is eheim 1250
swiftech blocks... as if you couldn't tell
all 3/8's tubes.. any 90 degree fitting you see is a 1/2 inch fitting though, so they provide no restriction to flow.
Radiators are 20 bucks a piece from BE.. They are old school I know.. I bought them a while ago.
Case is the awesome Lian-Li PC-70.

This is a test run with just distilled water. I will now drain and fill with purple ice and UV treated coolant.

Tell me what you think people. Thanks.

Edit: will purple ice, 1 oz per quart, be enough to stop corrosion in this system?

Looks nice.
Have you planned something about hiding that stuff over the top ?
About fittings, check out Eheim products they have 'round' elbows, so there's less flow restriction (no sharp turn).
And there's always our friend at www.liquidcool.org who sells great push-in fittings.

looks nice!
but I have 2 questions (bear with me, I'm new too H2O cooling)

1. Whats up with the tubberware on top?
2. Whats up with the cardboard?

Thnx for the help

I'm not a big fan of the Swiftech units due to there low flow swivel mounts and dual metal construction, but you've definetely showed a way to set up a clean looking system, although I prefer it all inside, a little sheet aluminum and it'll look sweet.

Leveraging and the fact that my computer is filled with hoses everywhere is one of my greatest concerns, now I think I'm going to buy some elbows and see if I can pack them out of the way (still in the case, but neater like yours).

Give some pic's when running :)

DAMN! I dont even need to pay for advertising! Now that that's out of the way...

Why didn't you use a "T" or a "Y" and split the flow instead of daisy chaining it? If your running TBirds this will make the second CPU 1C-3C hotter. You'll get better temps if you split the flow into two lines, then recombine it into one to go into the radiator.

Looks nice and clean tho...

Answers:

1) the tupperware peice is to allow air to leave the system, it will always work it's way to the highest point in the system.

2) The cardboard under the waterblocks was probably to let him bolt them in place without the risk of scratching the (probably impecably lapped) mating surface of the block.

I am sure that I will be corrected if I am wrong....

Spinoza 08-12-2001 08:03 PM

You are absolutly right. The cardboard also serves a second purpose of aligning the waterblocks in the correct position they will be in the case. I then cut and fitted the rest of the hoses so there is no forces on the blocks.
Spliting the flow into two for the blocks isn't really the best way to go. The water will move at half the speed. In water blocks you want the water moving fast. The difference in temps between the water passing through the blocks should be minimal.
I also disliked Switechs elbow fittings, if you look close you will notice I replaced them with standard brass 90 degree barbs.
Thanks for the comments.. I'll post a new pic when it boots.
