bix vs bix v2? something i noticed

im not sure if there is really more than one version of the BIX, but after OCWC they started calling them BIX v2

i had one of the original BIXs from OCWC but i didnt really look at it much.

i just recently bought a BIX v2 and when i look at the water channels, they are actually split. its more of a 12 pass instead of 6:

if you hold the bix u to the light you can see through the fins, now start turning it to the side and the light will be blocked off, now turn it just a little more and you will see light comming through the centers of the water channels.

my question is: how many others have this? and are there any original BIX owners out there to tell us what you see?

any thoughts on this design would be interesting. im guessing its just easier to make that way.
