KooLance anyone?
I saw a KooLance case, and well it sparked my interest...anyone use these cases before?
I want a water cooled system, just too dang scared, and these are made like that so, maybe someone has used them before... |
EWWW. How low end for the price.
Q Power would be my suggestion if you really dont wanna build your own. |
Yes I have one . It was my first taste of WC as well .It is an adiquate performer even in my climate zone .It also gives a good insight to this method of cooling especialy for the begginer. It is a little exspensive compared to some of the rig setups you see around but is well made and fairly easy to get up and running .

I really think you'd be happier with the Swiftech Q Power. At least then your not sacrificing performance for ease of use. You get both.

i did a review on the koolance for Virtual-Hideout a few months back. You can check out the review right HERE. The setup actually worked pretty decent for cooling the CPU for about a month or so before one of the pumps in the reservoir died. The only problems i saw with the Koolance that I reviewed (PC2-C), case temperatures, space, noise. Case temps were huvering around 28c while CPU was only 1c warmer with a 1GHz T-Bird running at 1.6GHz. That was pretty impressive considering I was using the old Koolance waterblock. No my CPU temp was recorded using the Koolance, I used my Digi-Doc with a probe touching the side of the core. The positive about the Koolance is the dual pumps. I had one die. All that really happened was my temps shot up to Air Cooling temps pretty rapidly. Noise, Koolance elects to use 3x80mm fans up top on their radiator. I think if they went with a smaller radiator and a single 120mm or dual 120mm fan setup, it would be much quieter.
Now what UNA said. GET THE SWIFTECH ONE!!! As of right now I am not happy with Koolance's tech support. I work for Virtual-Hideout and wanted to use the case in a shootout. I told them I needed a new pump/reservoir unit since one of my pumps died. They want me to spend my money to ship my dead one back so they can send me a new one. BITE MY ASS KOOLANCE!!! I will keep the reservoir, remove the pumps, and change it out with a Eheim 1048 pump. At least I know it will last for more then a month. |
Yeah go w/ the Swiftech. Their stuff is expensive, but it really is top notch.

The swiftech will also allow you more upgrade options in the future, like a new rad, due to the fact it's case is much larger, and is much more open than the koolance.
I think the resounding outcome here is obvious ;) |
And the swiftech comes with that awsome Lite-on case:drool:
|
personally i think it would be cool to have a koolance running a gaming rig cause of how "low fat" the thing is... its very clean and pretty damn quiet from what i have heard.
|
i'd get the vapochill, but hey! thats just me!
|
koolance is far from quiet....3 screamin' 80mm fans on top, and a case temp that is warmer then bermuda...the swiftech is definately a hell of a lot more quiet...d-tek also makes a case i believe...just haven't heard anything about it
|
Yeah, swiftech comes with that crazy Lite On case, and its modded!
|
Actualy sn1per the fans on top are not that noisy even if you kick in mode 3 , thats when infact all 3 top fans kick in .It has never actually got that warm for that to happen automatically.Agreed not the lowest temps around but not as awefull as most believe either. My case is loaded and case temp is , as I write this is only 2C over ambient (monitored with digidoc). I have though modded the case and put a 120mm panaflo L1A in the front and have 2 80mm panaflo L1A in the rear for exhaust .There is of course some sound but really it is a pleasant exspeariance , more like a low humm, hardly noticeable. In fact the noisiest thing i have is the damm UPS fan,it has a nasty pitch to it wich of course i willl deal with very soon.I have to add though if I were to do it again I would have gone the Q power way, but hey I made my choice and will live with it .:D

well...my koolance pc2-c and the pc601 are both lousy and loud...im super pissed with the koolance tech support as of right now....nobody there to even speak a language i could understand for one....they are pricks....
mode 1: all fans at 45% until CPU Temp reaches 45c mode 2: all fans at 45% until CPU Temp reaches 35c mode 3: all fans at 100% all the time a thing to note...the damn fan controller works when it wants to anyways...sometimes the fans will be at 100% all the time, or they will stay at 45%...even at 45% it is still above 45db according to my measurements at 3' away...my current setup = 39 db with 1 120mm fan, 4 80mm fans at 3' away...the swiftech definately ownz... the big stinker with koolance as of right now for me, #1 price, and #2 tech support...i have tried their tech support on 4 different occasions with 4 different names and received the same horrible treatment...that is my 2 cents....my pc-601 is definately cooler...but im giving it to a homeless guy i think ;) |
To be honest if I was to be treated the same way you are being treated I would be more than just a little upset. You would think they would bend over backwards to satisfy your requirements. The setup is pricey and to have those problems on top of it add up to not a way to go or even to recomend trying it .I was lucky I guess and got one that gave me no problems .With that all I can really add then is buyer beware. They(Koolance) have lost my vote,Just on the fact that Support is not as good as it should be ,when are these people gonna realize that its hard at times to come up with the $ to spend on there equipment and just be slapped in the face when you need there help .

or you could get a HeatSeeker from CPUFX...
*Ducks at the incomming hail of computer parts and pop cans* erm, go with the swifttech -WireX P.S. DO NOT GET CPUFX STUFF |
I had a koolance case go BOOM on me back before they got their shit together. it ruined some things.
