PDA's

My dad is looking for a PDA for around 200-300 dollars, anyone have any suggestions/recommendations on what to buy?

Well is he just looking for cheap or does he actually want features?

Like does he want a PocketPC or a Palm Top?

Does he just want to store addresses and contacts or does he want to surf the web and have a color display?

Details, details..... :)

PalmOS is the only way to go. An m125 for black & white, or an m130 for color. Those are some good units at a decent price.

There's also Handspring and Sony units which are very good. You pretty much can't go wrong with anything running PalmOS.

I agree, it really depends what he wants to do with it, what peripherals he is interested in. I have a Handspring and really like it, the only downside is non upgradable OS.

Well my dad is a doctor and he said he saw this program for PDA's which is basically a huge reference program about various prescription drugs, he thought it would be handy to have a Palm Pilot so he can instantly bring up info when he is talking to patients. He doesnt need anything with a color screen, just something to run this program, do some occasional storing of phone numbers and keeping a daily calender. Thanks for your guys help.

In that case an m500 is probably a good choice. It has a memory slot so you can add more storage. Medical refs I'm sure can get pretty big, and might outgrow the regular memory.

Or for $100 more he can get color in the m515.

For $450 he can get the Zaurus :). I'm ordering it tomorrow.

Check into the Handera or TRG Pro. They are based on the Palm OS with incredible CF card storage options. For medical use, nothing else can touch them. http://www.handera.com

Edit: With the storage capacity offered by the Handera or TRG, your Dad will probably want to look at some of the software packages at Skyscape.
