Price @$175+ USD ------------------------- I'm thinking of getting the cheaper Aqua Stealth, but is it poor quality? I don't want to pay too much for a water cooling kit. + what kind of temperatures would I get from either kits? :/ |
#2 by far. and you don't need a res, but more coolant = better.
|
when you talk coolant, do you mean water wetters and anti-freeze?
|
Z4 Water Cooling Kit Priced @ $175
*Supports AMD Socket A Processors: Duron, XP, Thunderbird *500GPH 12V DC Pump with standard 4pin Molex Connector *100% Aluminum anodized, CNC milled construction *Reservoir is 4.5 inches in diameter by 2.5 inches tall *1/4" thick walls *1/2" outer diameter (OD) anodized hose barbs for corrosion *protection. 3/8" inner diameter (ID) for superior water flow. *Each barb has been color coded for ease of installation. *Knurled cap with o-ring seal for easy empty and and refill *Reservoir comes with feat that can be used to screw the reservoir into position *Stainless steels screws used in construction *One year manufacturer warranty *Only use clean distilled water with the pump. Do not use anti-freeze, water wetter, or any other additives as these may cause failure of the pump and will void your warranty. ^unlike other cooling kits, how come this one doesn't want water wetters or Anti-Freeze? |
DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM OCH!!!! They suck. Just by saying what I just did, you will see a bunch of posts about how much OCH sucks. If you want to buy a kit go with one from Danger Den or Dtek.

oh, and yes I when I said coolant, I mean water wetter and anti freeze, or whatever you like to use for coolant.
|
Or do-it-yourself:
rounded off in US$ heater core $20 1/2 inch tubing $3 eheim 1048 $55 block of choice $40 clamps, fittings etc. $10 2 80mm fans for core $10 (generic case fans) $140 (+/- $10) D-I-Y pride=priceless |
so if I get the eheim 1048 pump I won't need a reservoir?? That's just about the only thing I'm confused about right now... Thinkin I'll buy Danger Den's stuff on Cooltechnica
*Danger Den Maze3 *Black Ice Prime 3/8 *Panaflo 120mm Fan *Eheim 1048 *Reservoir ???? *7ft 3/8 Silicon Tubings *4oz SWater Wetter *10 Hose Clamps + T-Fittings $172 |
I prefer a hybrid setup. I use a res, but I don't submerge the pump...just the put in and out lines into the res. It's easier to fill/bleed, more water volume in the loop, and your pump stays clean incase you choose a different setup later.
|
cools.. one prob that's a $22 add-on... so it would be aorund a $200 setup... you know where I can find a similar setup as I stated before, but for a cheaper price range... something around $100-$175max
|
make yourself a res. the marine electrical junction box costs about 7 bucks, and some fittings will caost about $1.50 each.
|
it has been said over and over again, even once in this thread, but
for the sake of all the guys that will have to listen to the bitching and complaining, DO NOT BUY OCH/CPUFX... ever, I did, I regret -WireX (If you think this is spam, plz delete, but it really cannot be said enough...) |
the second is the best, as the first has a really bad radiator.
the third really really really sucks, don't buy a thing from och at all |
thanks.. Imma tell my dad to order it for me in about 3 weeks when I'm off for summer and before summer school starts =) thx! =)
|
Hey Tofu, if you wanna save a few bucks, skip the BI and get a heater core from DTek Customs.

hehe, yeah I was blind, I must have been thinking of the normal becooling kit
|
isn't the bl pro the same as the bl prime only with 1/2" barbs instead of 3/8", if that is the case is it really gonna matter that much?
|
the BI Pro is a revised BI Prime. it has 1/2" fittings and makes 2 passes instead of 4 like the Prime (lower pressure drop as a result).
so instead of 3 parrallel channels making 4 passes, it has 6 channels making 2 passes. this should lower the velocity of the water, which increases the time the water spends in the rad allowing it to disipate more heat to the fins. if you look on the specs from HWlabs, they do say it has better performance than the BI Prime. |
Second kit by far, but use 1/2 inch fittings instead.
|
I was thinking of using 3/8 tubings.. will that still fit on the 1/2 BIPro?
|
3/8" tubing will work, but of course it will need to be stretched over the 1/2" barb. You'd still be better with a BI Pro, and 1/2" all around
